About Me
Hello there!
I'm Paula, originally from Spain but living in Scotland for the past 7 years. I joined Couchsurfing in 2017 and have used it many times since then. I am currently settled in Edinburgh working in a hotel, but even though I feel grounded and happy, sometimes I miss that adventurous part of me. That is why I want to start using CS again more often and getting to know some of the beautiful people on this amazing platform.
I consider myself an independent person who is always looking for new adventures, places and people. I am calm and cheerful, and very talkative once you get to know me! I enjoy a peaceful environment and I always try my best to create meaningful connections with the people around me.
I am a very versatile person who can enjoy many different things. I wouldn't say I have 'a passion', I discover and learn something new every day. I am into photography, and I love nature, watching a sunset, going camping, the sea, a good hike... Those things make me happy. I am also into meditation and yoga, and enjoy being active. It sounds like a cliché, but I am the happiest while traveling, having adventures, reading a good book, being outdoors in nature, or just having a good chat with a friend.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
CS can turn a regular trip into an unforgettable journey where you get to meet the most wonderful people, dive into a country's culture and have the most random amazing experiences. By using Couchsurfing again I am hoping to get that adventure feeling back and meet more beautiful souls around the world.
Music, Movies, and Books
As difficult as it is to choose favourites movies, I would say 'Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind' and 'Amélie' are two of them. I enjoy movies that cannot be fully understood until the end, like most of Christopher Nolan's! :D
In terms of music I listen to a lot of different styles, but mostly reggae, rock, dub, hip hop, and ska. One of my favorite songs is True to myself by Ziggy Marley.
The last book I can remember that I reaaaally enjoyed was Never let me go, by Kazuo Ishiguro. A little goal of mine is to read all of his books, I'm on it at the moment :)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
-Bungy Jumping in New Zealand from 134 meters high, 8.5 sec. free fall!! it was a scary but such an awesome experience!
-Hitchhike my way through the border from Poland to Ukraine in winter 2017!
-Kayaking in Sydney with a local I met here through CS, with amazing views of the Opera House.
-Camping on the top of a mountain in Scotland while an electric storm was happening around me (but not on the top hill I was on!).
Teach, Learn, Share
I am a curious person always willing to try new things. I like learning languages, and even though I'm not learning any at the moment, I would like to larn Russian some day.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I will be happy to help with your Spanish or English skills. I also studied music for over ten years and play the flute, so I could share my musical knowledge as well.
I can teach how to cook some Spanish food, I can make good paella and Spanish omelette :D
Last but not least, I can offer a (hopefully good) chat about life, death, and everything in between! It is always interesting to meet and learn about new people and their experience on this planet.
