About Me

Hi all!

We are Maria and Paula, two 25 years old best friend who were born and raised in Madrid, Spain. I (María) work as a primary teacher and I (Paula) work as an sustainable energy consultant. We love our home town, but we realised that, more after covid, life is too short and the world is too big. As adventurous as we have always felt, the current circunstantes have made us postpone our dreams, traveling abroad and making memories worth telling back home. BUT, we both feel ready to continue with our plans! We are both looking for an international experience, which will allow us to grow personally.

We are very interested on sustainability and alternative ways of living, as well as knowing from other cultures.

The first stop of our trip was Canada, where we spent two months in Elephant Lake (Algonquin National Park). From there and at the moment, we are travelling along USA's West Coast, heading later to Hawaii. From there, we would like to go to New Zealand. And the rest, we will see :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Paula tried Couchsurfing long time ago in North Cyprus, when they (Paula and a group of friends) contacted a local to show us around and we had a great time! As we have decided this year to travel around the world, we think that Couchsurfing and its community is a great way to meet new people and to get to know the culture of the country we are in from a local's perspective.

Music, Movies, and Books

With the books, Maria has a very large collection of books for kids. One of them is El monstruo rosa, (The Pink Monster), which she would recommend everyone to read to their kids. Paula would always recommend The Little Prince, for all types of audiences.

Maria's favourite movie Harry Potter saga and music Spanish folk (such as Los Delincuentes). For Paula, movie The Little Mermaid and music techno, electronic and indie folk.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Paula has lived on a remote island for almost a month, doing a course on scientific diving.
Maria works with children with special needs on a daily basis.
PLUS, this world trip as we had to quit our jobs and leave our common home in Madrid.

Teach, Learn, Share

Maria is passionate about children and education, especially children with special needs. She studied a degree to be a teacher of primary education and special education. In addition to that, she loves nature, she grew up on a farm where she lived with her family, and many animals and nature around her. That's why she loves sharing her passion for education and nature, as well as her concern for sustainability and her dream of travel.

Paula's passions are the sea and traveling. She studied a marine biology degree in england, during which she did different internships in valencia, cyprus and indonesia. She also loves spending time learning about sustainability and making her own sustainable products like soap, sewing with recycled materials, etc. and she is always willing to share this knowledge.
