Overview
About Me
I'm Paulina, 18, from Silesia in Poland. I've recently graduated from high school, and in October I'll start studying Aerospace Engineering in Warsaw Institute of Technology. And yes, being able to say that 'well, technically it IS rocket science' was one of the reasons.
Although the main one was, and will always be, my love for science, learning, and all the unknowns awaiting in our world.
I like to see the world as a puzzle, and putting as many pieces together as my job there. So I try to fill the picture in by connecting different fields of knowledge, seemingly seperate, but somehow intertwined. And what I can't figure out with plain science, I try to complement with traveling.
Isn't it a thrilling way of really getting acquainted with the world, after all?
And well, apart from that, I drink a lot of tea, watch a lot of Netflix, read a lot of books, and try to finally get a reasonable amount of sleep. Who doesn't, really.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Staying in hotels just takes away a lot of the charm. I want to interact with different cultures, get to know them and learn fron them, and is there a better way for that?
Interests
I always had trouble choosing; everything has something to offer. So I refused to, and I like a little bit of everything.
I love Maths and Physics, but I also like going to gym. I love computer games, comic books and nerdy movies, but I also like dancing at parties with my friends. I love cooking and traveling, but I also like doing cute diy gifts for the people I love. I love languages, but I also like archery and swimming. Generally, a lot of things.
I just try things and keep doing them if I like.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love all dystopias, generally. George Orwell shaped me greatly, so he holds a special place in my heart. My newest obsession is 'We' by Yevgeny Zamyatin.
I also adore Terry Pratchett's 'Discworld', Lovecraftian horror, Kurt Vonnegut, some classical literature, fantasy and sci-fi, and a tad bit of poetry.
When I list my favourite directors, it's always Kubrick, Tarantino, Anderson. But I do also like to watch Marvel movies, Star Wars, or my friends getting scared during some trashy horror movie.
Also, a lot of TV series.
Music? Mostly on the rock-ish side. When I have to list, The Beatles, Metallica, Arctic Monkeys, Arcade Fire, Queens of the Stone Age, twenty one pilots.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I volunteered during the climate conference last year, COP24. I had an opportunity to meet a lot of fascinating people, participate in inspiring events, have enlightening conversations. But what really amazed me was the climate strike we staged when the discussions kept being futile. It might be a small thing, but standing in front of all these reporters, singing The Earth Song, the feeling of making a change, making our voices heard literally and figuratively, were truly exhilarating.
And I'm even shortly mentioned in Washington Post, so that was a big one for me.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm up for all kinds of exchange of knowledge and ideas, be they about languages and cultural differences or spices to use in an omelette.
Well, the only things I could probably teach anyone is a great mac'n'cheese recipe, some ridiculously long Polish ballad, spinning 6 hula hoops simultaneously, or about 20 digits of pi.
I don't know if anybody's really up for that.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Any help with chores that might be needed, travel stories, funny youtube videos, book and tv recommendations, long conversations, and maybe a pun or two. Or a hundred, they just happen.
