About Me

Hello!
I'm Paulo, a Brazilian Chemical Engineering student. 21 year old. I've been an exchange student in Syracuse University for the last year, and now I'm an intern researcher at the Lawrence Berkeley Lab, in Berkeley, CA.
I've been traveling as much as my budget lets me over the last year in America and already have traveled the whole East Coast (From Boston to Key West), Chicago and Michigan (including the Upper Peninsula).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am amazed on how I just discovered this app!
I stayed in hotels, Airbnb's and friends houses for all my trips until now.
I'm living in California now, and I haven't traveled anything yet on the west coast yet, so I plan on knowing as much as possible on this side of the Mississipi before I go back to Brazil in late august.
So, please, be gentle to me and my girl on these last days here!

Interests

Well, I'm a soccer fanatic (Brazilian 21 year old guy, duh) and a movie enthusiastic!
I read a bunch of facts on pretty much everything, so I always have something cool (or lame) to say about any topic we talk about.
I am interested on knowing the most touristic and the well hidden spots of everywhere I go. From the Statue of Liberty, to the great pizza of a sushi place below the garden of that old building!
In this while, make lots of friends, and share experiences with anyone willing to.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music - I love Brazilian songs. Pagode, Samba and Forro. I can show you a bunch of them while we share a beer and a churrasco (brazilian BBQ).
Movies - At some point of my life, I used to watch about 5 movies a day! Wish I could do that now. Dark Knight, The Last Samurai, Tears of the Sun, 12 Angry Men are, along with others, what I would call some must-sees.
Books - I don't read much of fiction. I like to read about things that happened. Seabiscuit and History books are things to keep me amazed for some hours!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Well, I'm a Brazilian guy who traveled the whole East Coast in a 30 days road trip, if it is amazing.
I've slept in a garbage can once (16 years, drunk, total regret).
Went to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. (Does anyone go there?)
Oh, and I've started my own company (Tutorial classes for high school students) in Brazil before coming to this exchange year.

Teach, Learn, Share

Well, I've been a High school students tutor for some years.
One thing I've learnt from all my students is that everyone has a different story, and different way to share these stories. This makes every bond you make the most amazing thing the human culture has developed over years of evolution!
No matter how much you talk to someone, kids or elderly, you'll always learn something new about that unique person.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Well, I can show you the best of brazilian music. The true one, not the "Oh my god, if I catch you" shit.
If you want to talk about soccer, I'm always willing to.
I can talk a bunch about brazilian food, but can't cook. (shame on me)
In addition, I can share some of my personal stories with you.
