One of my friends said about me, that if I said I would do something, she could relax, because it would get done. I think that's the kind of person I am, and probably the kind of person I want to be? I tend to be a bit of a mix of loud and quiet, confident and shy, depending on how the mood takes me. Often I seem to be stuck being not quite nerdy enough for the nerds, and not cool enough for the cool kids. I live on the edge of London, about one hour from the centre by bus & train, in TfL Zone 5. Close to Heathrow (30 minutes by bus, 15 minutes by car). Also close to Brunel University, or Pinewood Studios.

One Amazing Thing I've Done
Walking 100km non-stop. In the rain. For charity. In particular, the moment at about 3am when the clouds lift, and I looked back across the hills to see the line of 2,000 people wearing head torches snaking its way behind.
My Interests
During the day I'm a programmer. I don't really want to be a programmer, but it's what I'm good at. I spend a lot of time playing sport (maybe five hours a week playing badminton, and two playing squash), and not as much time as I'd like playing musical instruments. I try and travel a couple of times a year - I'm usually pretty happy to travel on my own, so I can see the world at my own speed. About once a year I go on a long distance walking trip, either with friends or with family, doing somewhere between 100-200km in 5-7 days. I'm rarely happier than when I'm walking - it's a wonderful brain break from work.
