ABOUT ME

For me, "a life outdoors is a life well lived!" I'm in awe of this world and want to experience its peaks and valleys, deserts and rainforests, oceans, rivers and streams. There is no such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate gear. I've got gear and am not afraid to use it!

When visiting other countries, I like to know where the locals #OptOutside, where they shop for fresh veggies and who their favorite barista is! And please tell me where the best spot is to watch the sun and moon rise or set!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Being, ahem, a bit more mature than the majority of the CS community, we have learned through our travels that staying in hotels is a very sterile experience and that interacting with locals expands our consciousness and cultivates tolerance. We believe we can contribute in a meaningful way to building bridges and communities by hosting and surfing as individuals, a couple and as a family.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We have hosted for both domestic and international travelers and have surfed in Germany as well as the US! We have made "soul" connections with some and connected on some level with others! Although Duluth, GA is not high on many people's list of places to visit, we have had the most pleasurable experiences hosting.

Recent events with changing family needs (aging parents) mean we no longer have a room (or couch) available to host. We look forward to being hosts again at some point in the future!

Interests

Anything outside - hiking, biking, sailing, rafting, rowing, hiking, walking... Nature! Music! Did I mention Belgian beer? Photography!!!

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy most music but am not a fan of heavy metal or grunge rock. And oddly, jazz doesn't do much for me. Am most fond of classic rock and roll, blues and folk.

Henry likes Sci-Fi, I generally do not. Documentaries, self-help and historical fiction are my favorite genres for both movies and books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Most recently I witnessed the birth of my first grandchild!

Also, have bicycled up two epic climbs in the Tour de France, Mont Ventoux and Alp du Huez, with Henry on our tandem!
