About Me

ABOUT ME

I like to read newspapers, novels, and other bits of good stuff. I have a wall of inspiration in my bedroom that consists of, among other people: Edward Snowden (and his gorgeous girlfriend from Hawaii), Chris Hedges, Andrew Bacevich, Glenn Greenwald, and Joe Biden (primarily because he has an impeccable smile). I sure do enjoy school these days, which is another large reason I hope to go into journalism. I hope for a professional career later on in life that will involve traveling, learning, educating, and helping people in my country help other people across the globe. Today is a good day to be alive.

"The wide world is all about you: you can fence yourselves in, but you cannot forever fence it out."
- J.R.R. Tolkien

PHILOSOPHY

I want to leave this world knowing that I spent my life contributing positively in to the system. I am fortunate to have lived a good and privileged life, and I want to give other people the opportunity and potential that I have. I feel that journalism is an extremely morally upright profession so long as it is done well, and I would like to make a future about that. People like me have opportunity to improve other parts of our world significantly if we know what is happening and understand it on a serious level. Being a young student represents opportunity, which is an exciting prospect in my life. Kurt Vonnegut once said "Beware of the man who works hard to learn something, learns it, and finds himself no wiser than before." Kurt Vonnegut was a good man.

Interests

I very much enjoy traveling and reading and learning about history. Growing up I was a boy scout, and am always happy traipsing through the mountains of Montana (or anywhere else for that matter) with a backpack on my back. In my free time I enjoy road trips, playing basketball, and reading the news.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I got to spend a summer studying at Nottingham Trent University in the UK in 2013. It was a brilliant experience where I learned a lot about another culture and it's people, but learned a surprising far amount more about myself.
