About Me

Since having left our home in the USA in 2011 to move to Belgium, my wife and I have hosted many friends and relatives and love to do it. Since we're expats, we may not give the same hosting experience that locals do, but we've seen a lot of Belgium and know what we like and are happy to share. Some locals tell us we've seen more of Belgium than they have.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The world becomes more friendly every time we meet a stranger with an open heart. I like who I become when I get out of the routine of everyday life and welcome new people to our home and the area we live.

Interests

Music, playing guitar or charangon, walking, ping pong, bicycling. Neither my wife nor I drink alcohol so if that's a focal point of couchsurfing for you, probably should look elsewhere. That said, we're not opposed to a guest enjoying theirs in moderation.

Music, Movies, and Books

I grew up on 60s and 70s rock - still love it. Also love instrumental groups like Nightnoise, singer songwriters like Luca Bloom, oldies like Beethoven's piano concertos. Books: The Kin of Ata are Waiting for You by Dorothy Bryant; Way of the Peaceful Warrior by Dan Millman (made into the movie called Peaceful Warrior); Inner Guidance, our Divine Birthright by Anne Archer Butcher (and many other books published by Eckankar), Journey of Souls by Michael Newton; The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron; Outrageous Openness by Tosha Silver.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Semester at sea... 100 days on a ship with 500 college students and 30 faculty members as we made our way around the world, stopping at a dozen ports along the way. I was ship's librarian.

Teach, Learn, Share

Being parents with kids and pets, we're more likely to be available for a long walk in our beautiful and quiet neighborhood than for an all day tour of neighboring Brussels, Leuven or Ghent. But you'll benefit from our experiences and tips, and you'll be most welcome in our home.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Croatia, Egypt, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Japan, Morocco, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, Ukraine

Countries I’ve Lived In

Belgium, Germany, United States
