About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Yet to learn more about couchsurfing

ABOUT ME

We(Peter&Jane) are a family who lives on Mfangano Island, in lake Victoria, Kenya. We have family members of nine people including two orphans from a neighbors who died a few years ago. Some of our children are in colleges, but some still in high school and primary schools. currently we are running an orphanage that is mainly Spanish sponsored though non profit making organization . it has 130 children . we receive volunteers all through the year and couch surfers having a minimum of 10 every week who enjoy their stay and even some extend their stay because of how they feel treated while there.

we have built a guest house that can accommodate about 40 volunteers at ago with there privacy owned. there is electricity in the compound and an alternative of solar power when electricity goes off. we have got our own house with a few rooms left for hosting visitors even more guests .Our house is only 100 meters from the Lake Victoria shore. We have a big compound where tents can be pinched for Visitors should need be.We do not have Tents, but you can come with one if you wish .Mrs Jane,is trained as Youth Minister and can help our visitor's children, especially Youths. We are in process to learn more on couch surfing .We accommodate even families who couch surfer. we respect all guests and host many as we learn more from them and they also learn from us.

we can always pick the guests upon arrival at Mfangano Island .they only need to call or message or whats app +254 711 641 902 to tell us to pick them, and take them to the site. when at the site, we can always plan with the guests what to do while in his stay. mostly we also encourage the guest to see the island and other historical places of the island such as rock painting, museum, birds village and caves that reflect our culture historical. we also take our time to explain to the guests our history and some they learn as we interact.

There are several means of transport to the island from Mbita , main land to the site. one can use the ferry , waterbus or engine boat to the island . The first place to land on the island is Sena and you can ask to be picked or take a motor cycle to the site. always just ask about Peter and Jane from Wamai village. most common means of transport on the island is motorcycle and engine boat .

We have different kinds of food which is grown in farms around the Island. some are grown traditionally and eaten the same way portraying our culture . some we buy from the market around the island .We will always assist our guests who may specify what to eat. We also provide medical services for our guest because the orphanage has a small clinic to provide health services being offered by a trained nurse. we have latrines and the guest house toilet.

Accommodation is free at last !!!!

Thanks.
