My name is Phung, and I'm originally from Vietnam — I was born and raised in the vibrant city of Ho Chi Minh City. I studied Industrial Management in Vietnam and had the wonderful opportunity to do an exchange semester in Indonesia, which sparked my love for travel and cultural exchange.

After university, I worked as a process engineer for four years. It was a valuable experience, but I felt the urge to pause and explore life from a different perspective. I decided to take a gap and start a new chapter — volunteering abroad.

Since January 2025, I’ve been living in Bad Honnef, a charming town in Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany. I currently volunteer at a Catholic secondary and high school, supporting the music classes. It’s a joyful experience to be around students and contribute to a creative learning environment.

I’m a big dog lover and enjoy good cooking — both making and sharing meals. Whether it’s Vietnamese food or trying something new, I believe food brings people together. When I feel inspired, I even create little songs just for fun and play them with my friends — nothing serious, just a way to share moments and enjoy music together.

I love meeting new people, exchanging stories, and finding joy in small things. One of my favorite quotes is: “Do small things with great love.” I try to live by that — whether it's chatting over coffee, cooking a meal, or simply sharing a smile.

I’m on Couchsurfing because I believe that the best part of traveling is not just seeing new places, but connecting with people — hearing their stories, sharing cultures, and creating small, meaningful moments together.

As someone who is living abroad and volunteering, I’ve learned how powerful kindness and connection can be. Couchsurfing is a beautiful way to meet open-minded souls, experience local life in an authentic way, and share who I am in return.

I’m not looking for luxury — just good conversations, shared meals, laughter, and maybe a walk around your favorite corner of the city. I believe in doing small things with great love, and I carry that spirit into every Couchsurfing experience.

One of the most amazing things I’ve done was deciding to take a step back from my engineering career and follow my heart by volunteering abroad. It was not an easy choice, but it opened my life to new experiences, cultures, and meaningful connections.

Since then, I’ve had the chance to support music classes at a school, create songs just for fun, and share moments with people from different walks of life. This journey taught me the power of small acts done with great love — and how those moments can truly change us.
