About Me

I'm 49, single, I have 2 beautiful daughters aged 20. I love traveling and as such have been very lucky to do so through work. I thoroughly enjoy meeting new people and the the thrill of seeing new cities and towns and sampling their cultures first hand. I'm taking a break from design to go back to academia, to change career and qualify to Teach English as a Foreign Language, initially. But first and foremost go back to doing what I love most - traveling and opening myself up to new experiences!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've been on Couchsurfing since 2010, and used it to great affect and as a result have made good friends and seen cities through the eyes of the people I stayed with. Geneva, Switzerland was a particular favourite. I hope to grow that network of friends and continue to experience cities as they were meant to be found.

Interests

I played and coached rugby until I was 46, had my own business, then took a break to change direction. I love Languages and the chance to touch on different cultures.

Music, Movies, and Books

My tastes are eclectic and varied. Musically I stray from 90's indie, to jazz, to mainstream - Adele, Elbow, Kings of Leon, Coldplay, Pink, through to classical. Books I've rather favoured biographies, testimony and factual texts. I have a keen in history and theology, though I'm not adverse to the odd work by Dan Brown, Umberto Eco, and Isaac Asimov. Films - true stories interest me, Hacksaw Ridge for example. All Tarantino, Spielberg, and have a guilty liking for Fast and Furious type films. Baby driver is a current favourite. Bond old and new, and Bourne are particular favourites. For nostalgia reasons, and to placate my Girls, Star wars... Comedy? Will Ferrell, Steve Carroll, Vince Vaughn et al. Monty Python and the original Pink Panther films always bring a smile. Think you might get the idea...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Passing my driving test in the UK then driving my first 1500 miles from Sunset Boulevard, LA to San Francisco and up Pacific One and back down Interstate 5.

Seeing Madeira from Off Shore, at the stroke of midnight, New Year's Eve, Amazing!

Teach, Learn, Share

As well as taking my TEFL course, I've been accepted on a theology course in September,. I intend to go back to rugby to coach youth, mixed ability and Ladies, carry on my work with a men's over 60's group I helped found, and develop my qualifications in the social care sector working with people in addiction.
