About Me

New to couchsurfing, but not new to travelling. Lived in the Philippines most of my life. Was working as a teacher for a decade, more or less, when I decided to leave my comfort zone and venture to Vietnam. Have been teaching abroad eversince and have worked in Cambodia, Guinea and now Japan.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love travelling and sharing my culture and the culture of the different places I have been to. Wherever I end up travelling to, I want to know about each place from the people who work and breath and live there. Learning about local lores, customs and hidden gems make travels more special.

I do love hosting as well. I always welcome friends and family members into my home. I love sharing about the city that I am living in, wherever I may be residing (currently Shizuoka, Japan). I would gladly guide people around and share its wonders.

Now, I just started dipping my toes into this whole couchsurfing thing. I started reading about couchsurfing and its alternatives on December 2023 and decided to open a be welcome account instead because I am still unsure if I want to go all in with couchsurfing and pay the fee. I also really hate the idea of paying to be able to host people. It became pretty clear to me, though, that the couchsurfing alternatives are very limited especially here in Asia. So, here I am now in the OG, hoping that veterans will guide me on my couchsurfing journey.

Music, Movies, and Books

Pophead here. I listen to the top 40 with a strong preference for catchy songs (yeah, I'm basic). I do love movies but I haven't been keeping up as much as I used to. The most memorable and enjoyable movies I could remember watching last year are Saltburn, Talk To Me, Aftersun and Barbenheimer.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Taught kindergarten kids to love school. Especially one who was traumatized by their last school.

Stories from the different places I've been to over dinner.
