About Me

************************************************************************************************************
PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE SENDING ME A REQUEST TO STAY

While I accept last minute requests, I do not accept last minute cancellations or no-shows. You should understand that if I say yes to your stay and you confirm, I will gladly accept you into my house, and I will get the house ready and set aside the time to accommodate you. I do not like setting aside the time for nothing and/or wait in my house by my phone to wonder what happened to surfers who have confirmed to stay but do not show up, and do not communicate about any changes in their plans.

This kind of discourteousness has happened to me several times and I will not accept it anymore. If you think you will either cancel without letting me know in advance, or simply not show up, without good reason, do not request to stay with me. If you cannot follow this simple rule, YOU WILL GET A NEGATIVE REFERENCE!

Thank you for your understanding.

CURRENT MISSION

Meet people from all over. Travel all over. Have drinks while I do those. Just enjoying life. :-)

ABOUT ME

I love to travel, I also really love the various modes of traveling!

PHILOSOPHY

As much as I belong to this world, I also feel that the world belongs to me! It is there for me to see!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I want to travel the world, leave my mark on the people I meet as well as let them do the same to me.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have a very good friend who introduced me to Couchsurfing. I've seen her host many people from all over and it amazed me. I've surfed a few times myself here and there, and I have hosted a few times as well. It is always a pleasure. My hometown actually has a close-knit Couchsurfing community that used to "fight" over surfers due to the demand being less than the capacity. Sometimes when plans change and we could not host a surfer, we would even cover each other by sending surfers to another host.

Interests

Exploring various cultures, people's way of life, and try to imagine my life in other places as well. I love various modes of mobility, especially planes and trains.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: pretty much anything, especially country. My current favourite band is Men Without Hats, who are mostly famous for their 80s hits The Safety Dance and Pop Goes the World.

Movies: anything with a period or foreign setting, sucker for romcoms, but some of my favourites include the Back to the Future Trilogy, The Princess Diaries, Les amours imaginaires (Heartbeats), Funkytown, C.R.A.Z.Y. (the last three are from Québec).

Books: I don't read a lot, but I tend to love reading on random facts. I loved "From This Moment On" which is Shania Twain's memoirs. She grew up in the same region as I did, so I was able to relate to her stories.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I will have to say taking an overnight train home for the holidays. I was going from Toronto to Sudbury on the VIA Rail's Canadian (Toronto-Vancouver train), and in the early morning I sat in the dome car. It was the morning after a snowstorm, and I saw the train slowly going through the rocky forests of Northern Ontario. With the wilderness and the cold outside, I felt safe and warm inside the train. It was very serene, and I always get a warm feeling thinking about it today!

Teach, Learn, Share

I've read about all these different places in the world, it's time for me to experience it! I find myself really good in geography as well as finding my way around by walking and taking public transit.

Montréal is my favourite city for several reasons I can explain. However I would not live there (for more reasons which I can explain!) If I am not busy, I can even drive you to Montréal and be a good tour guide to the city. Or I can give you a ride there if you just provide a bit of gas money. I love an excuse to go there, so don't be shy in asking this!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I speak English and French. So I can practice French with you (ou même l'anglais pour des francophones voulant de le pratiquer).

I can share a lot of random facts about pretty much anything. I may even talk about my culture.

I love to cook, and I can even share some of my French-Canadian comfort food!

I also love to knit, so if you accept me early enough, you can make a request and I might be able to make you something before meeting you. Or I could also make something and mail it to you!

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Canada, Dominican Republic, France, Germany, Ireland, Mexico, Netherlands, United Kingdom, United States
