Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I was a student the last time I couchsurfed. These days, as a full grown adult with a 9-5, I’m learning you have to make choice and time for magic. And I consider meeting genuine people and getting into random adventures to be magic. So, here goes!

EUROPE - AUGUST 2017

Like many new law graduates, I plan to travel for a month to reset my soul before starting work. I begin in Amsterdam and continue to Berlin, Prague, Budapest, Venice, Florence, and Rome. Traveling is more than just changing landscapes, so I hope to meet interesting people (and comfy couches) along the way!

Music, Movies, and Books

MUSIC: Queen when I’m feeling wild and Billy Joel when I’m feeling punkish. Aretha when I’m feeling soulful and Sinatra when I’m wistful.

SHOW: Aspiring to be Ted Lasso.

MOVIE: About Time is the sum of my life’s philosophy.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

1. Danced in a flash mob proposal at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. I'm a sucker for romance and spontaneity. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8qG21Pnix6U (I'm the off-beat person in teal at 2:21).

2. Found the most beautiful place in the world, the Istanbul ferry crossing from Europe to Asia, at sunset. [edit: I wrote this sentence in 2017. My husband proposed to me on this very ferry in 2022! Thanks, husband!]

3. Was featured on the front page of the Huffington Post for leading a tuition-freeze rally, in my student organizing days.

4. Danced on a boat with 12 CS ers in the rain. It was evenmore fun when some Spaniards from another boat joined in.

5. Joined 20 or so CSers in Berlin to watch an epic episode of Game of Thrones. Afterwards I got stuck in the bathroom because German doors confuse me.

Austria, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Lithuania, Mexico, Netherlands, Spain, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom, Viet Nam
