About Me

CURRENT MISSION

We have lots of missions - though our underlying mission is to stop having missions and just be. Until we really achieve our mission are occupied taking care of our 18 month old and navigating our lives in Israel

ABOUT ME

Who are we as individuals? as a couple? well...
We're both always seeking a balance between seriousness and fun - meaning sometimes a long serious conversation is our way, while at other times we can be downright whacky! We are both socially conscious people, and though generally staying out of politics, we're always looking for grassroot ways to promote peace in Israel and most importantly - to develop a more ecological way of living for all.
SC's (or Shlomo's) pretty intellectual and loves long conversations about history and politics and so on, while RA is at heart a dancer and can lose patience if SC forgets that his mind lives in tandem with a body. All in all we're a pretty good balance together... But most importantly we have a baby! She is almost 2 years old and full of energy and keeps us fully active. We're pretty busy with her and with our careers (rather struggling to make ends meat) but we're still open to guests who want to participate.

PHILOSOPHY

Do we have the same philosophy?
Shlomo: fate rears it's terrifying face and declares: "the world is as I command it to be! You shall change nothing of it!" and though fate's face is damn scary I refuse to accept its word as the last! I'm always looking for other ways than the "only way" - hence the need for traveling! What better way to experience an alternative reality than traveling? Also, meditation has helped a lot...
RachelAnne: I'm not a philosopher. I basically try to live with an underlying intention to be while doing a lot! This doesn't work well because you need to practice being and doing takes you out of that. And so I need to be aware of how I'm feeling to keep my cool, but self-awareness is detrimental to being. So, mostly I learn what I need to these days from the babies, and enjoy the great relief of chatting with an adult.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Moving to Israel without money (not highly recommended if you're not ideological)

The stalactite cave was simply awesome!...like walking through the inside of a human brain. 300, 000 years some of the shapes take to form, one tiny drop of water at a time...

Also, meeting bears back in Canada and even once or twice staring into their stern intelligent eyes.

Being pregnant is fantastic and fascinating

Pushing out Ednah Arava was awesome!
