Hi! I’m Raquel, a Spanish teacher with a passion for languages, travel, and the outdoors. Back in 2013, I moved to Colorado, USA, to work as a Primary school teacher. During my two years there, I traveled around the country as much as I could. I loved exploring cities, but what really stayed with me were the National Parks—Yosemite, Yellowstone, Zion, Bryce Canyon, Grand Canyon… After living near the Rocky Mountains, I became an outdoor enthusiast and started hiking, skiing, climbing, and kayaking whenever I had the chance. Since then, I’ve lived in Utrecht and spent a year in Tallinn (Estonia), but I ended up staying the longest in Montreal, Canada, where I worked in the video game industry as part of the Spanish LQA team. Montreal became my second home — I lived there from 2018 until 2022. Now I’m back in Spain, enjoying time in my hometown and staying open to new adventures. To explain my parents what couchsurfing was, I thought the best way was by being a host while I was in their place. They were the best host ever. hahaha!!

Why I'm on Couchsurfing
I love traveling solo—I've done countless short and long trips on my own. During those adventures, Couchsurfing has been a great way to meet locals and join fun events like language exchanges, casual meetups, or just going out for a drink.
One Amazing Thing I've Done
I crossed Canada solo, traveling all the way from Montreal to the West Coast. I spent three unforgettable months exploring breathtaking places and taking in the incredible diversity of the country.
My Interests
I love dancing salsa and bachata and all type of outdoor activities such as hiking, skiing, or doing via ferratas.
