About Me

Hi! This is Raquel. I am a Spanish teacher who has lived in Canada for two year. Here I work in a video game company in the Spanish LQA team.

A few years ago, I moved to Colorado, USA, to work as a Primary teacher. For two years, I travelled around the USA as much as possible. I liked the cities, but I really enjoyed all the trips I did to National Parks such as Yosemite, Yellowstone, Bryce Canyon, Zion Canyon, Grand Canyon...
After living close to the Rocky Mountains I became an outdoors activities lover. Now, I go hiking, skiing, climbing, kayaking... anytime I have the opportunity.
After that I have lived in the Netherlands, Estonia and Canada travelling always as much as possible in those countries and around them.

Everywhere I go, Couchsurfing is the way to meet friends and do a lot of fun activities. For example, when living in the Netherlands, I went to the carnival in Maastricht with a Couchsurfing camp. It was incredible. We were a big group of people who just met, but It seemed we had being friends forever. IT was just a weekend and I am still in contact with some of them. The atmosphere was the best possible.

TO explain my parents what couchsurfing was, I thought the best way was by being a host while I was in their place. They were the best host ever. hahaha!!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

A few years ago I did a road trip by myself visiting Death Vally, Secuayas Park, and Yosemite. It was an amazing experience. Since then, I love travelling solo. I have done so many short and long trips alone. During those trips, I have used Couchsurfing to meet locals and also to join different events: language exchange meetings, go for a drink events...
I think Couchsurfing is a really good platform for backpackers and also for people when they are new in a city. I have met all my friends when living abroad through events in Couchsurfing.

Interests

I love dancing salsa and bachata and all type of outdoor activities such as hiking, skiing, or doing via ferratas (a type of climbing).
