About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Being open to the endless possibilities of the Universe!

ABOUT ME

I feel most inspired when I am traveling, having great conversations or creating something.

I live in rural Appalachia and have a Western Maryland accent.

I am 6 feet tall. Yes, I am 6 feet tall.

PHILOSOPHY

My personal philosophy is to "live like you mean it!" The secret to life is to ENJOY IT!

I also tend to use the word FABULOUS alot and hey, why not?!?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Throughout my travels around the USA, Europe and Australia over the years, my greatest memories have not only been the scenery of a spectacular view but of the people I've met along the way. It always amazes me to meet such good people who are not strangers but instant friends. I am finally in a positon where I have a couch/bed/spare room to share.

So, you can't surf right now? That's fine, drop me a line anyway.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

On long distance backpacking trips, they are called "Trail Angels". I have met so many fabulous people who have shared their homes and their lives with me. I have slept everywhere from a tarp under a tree to a master suite and everything inbetween.

I tend to invite random traveling strangers into my home and offer them the Three B's: a bath, a bed and a beer. They seem to like that.

Interests

I love exploring the world and myself through nature, hiking, biking, yoga, running, hooping, pottery, photography, music, dance, and food. I also love my pets a bunch.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: I haven't had cable tv for over 10 years and I'm terrible at watching movies. I end up falling asleep, getting sidetracked or talking to the person beside me. I'd rather think of my life is one big, beautiful movie!

Music: I love live music. I love to dance. I love campfire get-togethers. I love being introduced to new music. I love making up new songs and improvising words to songs I think I know but really don't. I am trying to play the mandolin and just got into the guitar. I pretend to be an expert at keeping rhythm on junk too. I'd love to play in a real, bonafide drum circle!

Books: I start to read alot of books from a variety of genres. I love non-fiction books the best. Books of maps and books about history are my absolute fave.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I thru-hiked the Pacific Crest Trail from Canada to Mexico for 5 months.

I biked across the USA from Washington State to Maryland one summer.

I've seen such beautiful scenery along the Continental Divide Trail that has made me stop and cry.

I've been skydiving.

I ran my first marathon along the coast of Maine and sprinted the last 4 miles. It was truly an out-of-body experience.

I traveled alone through Europe and found myself.

I've hiked about 1,200 miles on the Appalachian Trail. I still have to finish the rest...

I've been up close and personal with the Great Barrier Reef. It really was great.

I'm currently studying to be a vinyasa yoga teacher. I'll be certified in June 2012. Yoga continually amazes me!

I've taught my first grade students how to read, write, learn math, get along with others and a few other things. That's been pretty amazing.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to knit, hula hoop and throw a freezbee if you can teach me how to juggle, surf, sail or make that "rrrrrrrrrr" sound in Spanish. I'm really into the guitar right now, so you could tell me everything you know about that.
