As much as I enjoy meeting people by staying in hostels and shared apartments, the experience of getting to know locals (who really know the places that they live) is much more exciting for me. I also really enjoy being a host and showing people things, so I'm sure I'll be able to reciprocate the favor at some point! Also, I definitely believe that meeting people from different places and learning about different cultures is what is needed in the world today. So much conflict and violence is caused by misunderstanding and thinking one way of life is better than another. We need more understanding and compassion towards one another if we are going to solve big global challenges..
