About Me

Namaste!

I’m a 25-year-old computer engineer passionate about solving social challenges using data science and technology. In Nov 2016, I quit my full-time job to continue working on my startup of 8 months from where I was thrown out the very next week. For the last 18 months, I have opened myself to new experiences, packing in the hills, playing in the snow, building epic bonfires, teaching rural artisans to sell on Amazon, picking up new skills and projects, a bit of travel here and there, and seeking happiness. Some rewarding and a few nerve-wracking experiences.

I’m a very simple, open-minded, big-hearted person who wants to grow his persona through new adventures and experiences. The quest for knowledge drives me – I love learning about new things, be it conversationally or from amazing facebook groups or youtube suggestions. Discovery is so underrated. Currently, I’m psyched about exploring music, literature, beer, festivals, art and creative expressions in general.

I love the beauty of expression – in all forms - photography, writing, magazines, people, dance, culture among others. I love meeting new people, share my life and experiences and engage in good conversations.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet amazing souls. I don't think you can really get the feel for a place until you're immersed in it. Travelling has connected me with amazing people who have been able to show me their cities in intimate ways that I never would have had access to if it wasn't for their direction.

Interests

Sports is a big part of my life – football, cricket, tennis, squash, swimming, F1 etc. I have been following European football all my life but over the last 5 years, I have been fortunate to be an integral part of bring European style football culture to India – huge flags, banners, chants, pyro and unlimited passion because a club in my land is better than a club in England 😃 (if you’re remotely into football, I’m sure you’ll hear a lot of Bengaluru FC from me)

History – I believe in many many conspiracy theories on the internet. Not a flat Earther 😝

Outdoors – I live in Bengaluru, which is a polluted concrete jungle and when I get to explore the wild, I’m the happiest. From taking small/ big hikes to swimming in a village pond, I cherish these experiences. I haven’t skied or surfed yet, but I’m so looking forward to it. I can picture myself as a youtube star snowboarding epic slopes, double-flipping and stuff. The double flip is very important – that’s the seller! 😊

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was part of a frozen river trekking expedition in the Zanskar valley in the Indian Himalayan region under the severe weather – minus 35-degree celcius, strong winds and maddd snow. And not to mention, the frozen river started was weakly formed. One of the nights, we trekked up a hill to find a small village where the team decided to trade some meat for money with the old villager woman. Right after the trade, the woman warned us that if we carry the meat to our camp in the middle of the night, we’ll be attacked by wolfs. In two minds initially, we voted in favour of taking it along with us and what followed was the scariest 1-hour night trek experience of our lives. We are all alive 😃

One amazing thing I’d like to do soon - I want to build a campervan myself (I’m looking forward to learning carpentry, electric systems and some handy car mechanics) and hit the road for a few months (the movie, Expedition Happiness, has left me wanting to experience this journey!).

Teach, Learn, Share

I speak 4 Indian languages fluently – I’d be happy to teach you a few words or write you a poem.
I can share gobsmacking Indian food with you
I will tell you really funny stories from India – you think you can stereotype us – hell yeah!
Goes without saying, we’ll share life, stories, jokes and fun!
I can teach you some new card games
I’m learning the harmonica – we could jam, or I can play you a melody!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Postcards, my deck of cards, chocolates, my harmonica!
Movie night? Hell yeah!
Wandering around the city? Absolutely!
