About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Share my passion for baking and nature. Plan my next trip

Travel through New Zealand on my bike. (Done)

Work as a baker in Australia, make friends there and explore this wonderful country. (Done)

ABOUT ME

Hi! I'm Raphael but you can call me Raf or Rafiki.

I'm a baker in Cucugnan, France. It's a very special place where we grow our own ancient wheats. We have a windmill to make the flour and a wood fire oven to bake the bread. I am passionate about my job. I am very interested in the link between environment, agriculture, food and health.
But I can talk about other things don't worry!

PHILOSOPHY

Be the change you want to see.
Our civilisation is coming to an end so I try my best to do good and go in the right direction.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've registered on couchsurfing when I came back from Canada because I wanted to host travellers from all around the world and be able to travel without moving, in a way... I love my city and I'm always happy to show it to visitors.
Now It's my turn to travel and I hope I will have the chance to meet great hosts.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Only as a host for the moment (I've been a guest once during my bicycletrip from Bordeaux to Bologna but on Warmshower, the bicycle community couchsurfing)
I've hosted 4 times.
The 1st was good but didn't have the time to get to know my german guests.
The 2nd was awesome, the california girl was suppose to stay a week and she stayed 2 weeks at my place, then a year in an appartment a friend of mine was renting and now she's staying 2 more years to study. We are very good friends now so that was a life changing experience.
The 3rd was great, lots of drinks with 2 russians, we've watched a firework and it was magical.
The 4th was a cyclist and we had a great time together in my new home of cucugnan. He came to work with me at the bakery the morning after.

Interests

I've discovered myself a new passion: Bicycle! I've made a trip from Bordeaux to Bologna (3 weeks and almost 1700km). It was unforgettable and I really want to do it again somewhere else. Now I try to move with my bike as much as I can.

I really love to eat but most of the time I'm too lazy to cook... I like beer, wine, and never say no to a good cocktail (I'm in a Spritz period right now)

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies I like: Searching for Sugar Man, Science of Sleep, Be Kind Rewind, Pulp Fiction, Shutter Island, The Godfather, Forrest Gump

Music I like: Hip Hop, Rock, Electro, Classical. I listen to a lot of different things and I cannot list everything here. I'm a fan of Eminem. One of my favourite things is to go to concerts.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've spent one year in Montreal and that was an extraordinary experience! I discovered a new culture and met awesome people!
I've spent 3 days in Rome and I fell in love with this city, I would like to live there one day.
The view from the top of the Empire State Building in New York is something I will never forget!!!
10 months in Australia... 8 months in the best bakery of Sydney and 2 months on the road with a van: Unforgettable
