About Me

CURRENT MISSION

...to NOT be bound by the chains of materialism!!..... What you don't have, sets you FREE!!!!

ABOUT ME

I would describe myself as a warm, friendly, creative, trustworthy, easygoing, fun-loving, open-minded traveler who is eager to learn about other peoples' ways of life throughout the world.
I never had any brothers or sisters so I don't mind traveling independently.

PHILOSOPHY

Always believe in yourself and persever... You can't choose the things life gives, but you CAN try and make the best of the things you have!!

"The world is a book...those who do not travel read only one page." --St. Augustine

Life is short, so ALWAYS HAVE SOMETHING TO LOOK FORWARD TO!!!!!

A stranger is a friend waiting to happen!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Well, at this point, I primarily participate in the "CouchSurfing Project" by hosting people as they travel in Japan... I'm also available to help with whatever travel-related questions people may ask of me. I'll do my best!...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've couchsurfed in many European and Asian countries. 'So many GREAT experiences and TONS of wonderful people!!
Here in Japan, I've made my apartment available to (at current count) about 30 travelers that have passed through Nagoya....
Send me an email! Maybe I can help you out...

Music, Movies, and Books

I love ALL kinds of music and movies: comedies, drama, action, etc... rock/pop, hard rock, jazz, instrumental... Very difficult to choose a favorite!

Concerning books: Three of my favorite authors are Michael Crichton, John Grisham and Jack Ludlum!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Oh so many things... (I firmly believe in "trying to" live life to its fullest!!)... I've recently visited the west coast of GREENLAND and hiked the Arctic Circle Trail! Been to Iceland 3 times - and looking forward to a 4th! Explored several of the stunning Faroe Islands! I've skydived twice!! (incredible experience!) When scuba-diving, I've seen sharks, stingrays, turtles, and so many beautiful fish! I've traveled in the Sahara AND Gobi deserts! I've hiked to the awesome Preikestolen. I've seen the Northern Lights while visiting northern Norway! I've climbed ALL OVER Angkor Wat! I've ridden horses bareback in Mongolia. Every trip to China, I've climbed different parts of the Great Wall. I've explored Indonesia's single-most-visited tourist attraction - Borobudur. I've ridden elephants in Thailand. I rode a camel to go visit Egypt's pyramids. I've stood in awe of India's Taj Mahal and then weeks later completed an 8 day Himalayan trek in only 5 days!! I explored Egypt's White Desert, the wonders of Jordan's Petra, Wadi Rum, Wadi Mujib, and Jerash, and the intriguing Israeli cities of Jerusalem and Tel Aviv!! I've had epic trips in Australia, and New Zealand!! ...and most importantly(?), I've had the I enjoy my life and try to always have something to look forward to!! :-)

Teach, Learn, Share

I feel it's extremely important to be humble and patient when traveling. Many westerners can ONLY speak English. If you travel to a foreign country, try to teach yourself at least a few useful phrases.
*I've been witness 1 too many times of us Westerners becoming impatient because the store clerk (at a store in France or Germany) doesn't understand the person's English. WHEN IN ROME, DO AS THE ROMANS DO....(Learn to speak some Italian!)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Besides providing a place to stay, I can share lots of life experiences - about Japan and other countries! Travel is one of my passions in life, and when I'm tied down at work, unable to go anywhere, the next best thing is hearing about other people's adventures!!
