About Me

Hi, I’m Richard from Guangzhou, China :-D I’m a video editor, who also love taking photographs. I changed my career 2 years ago, from a software engineer to now pursuing what I really enjoy doing 🎥 (at some point one gotta start following his heart right?) I like meeting new people ☕️, exploring new places 🏔🌠🗽🌉 These all bring so much fun and joy to my life. And I’ll keep going this path.

I grew up in China. After getting my batcher’s degree in 2015, I went to Pennsylvania, US to further advance my studies in engineering (Looking back, it was a mistake but also a blessing). It was a challenging and rewarding 2 years as an international student trying to solve every problem and achieve something in a culture totally different from the one I was brought up in. Learned a lot, grew a lot. And I’d love to re-visit some of the amazing places I had the chance to explore during those 2 years, New York🗽, Philadelphia, Pittsburg, Niagara Falls, Boston, San Francisco🌁, Yosemite 🏔 … These placed hold great memories of mine.

After my studies in US, I moved to Beijing, China. For 4 years I explored this amazing historical city, and built long-lasting friendships with so many amazing people from around the world. I had great times and heartbreaks in this city. The stories that unfolded during these 4 years I hold them close to my heart. But by the end of 2021, half of my friends were leaving all had already left Beijing. It’s sad to say goodbye but I also realized that I needed to, and I wanted to move on. That’s when I relocated to Shanghai, where I always wanted to live.

I stayed in Shanghai for only 8 months. Things didn’t go as planned and I relocated in summer last year. Shanghai is an amazing city, but 2022 probably wasn’t its best times. And now I live in Guangzhou, planning my next move.

I actually don’t know where I’ll be next. I know the direction I’m going, but I don’t know exactly where I’ll land along the way. Life is always full of surprises. It pushes me to learn and grow. I’m kind and easygoing, always open for opportunities and adventures 😄 Trying new things and being spontaneous is fun and exciting. If we get to meet, let’s go explore cool places in the city. And if you come visit Guangzhou China, let me know, I’d love to show you around!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In summer 2017, I went on a spontaneous trip to San Francesco for 12 days, 4 of which are spent camping at Yosemite National Park 🏔 It doesn’t sound like a big deal now but that was my first solo travel, first time staying at a hostel, and first time camping! I had no idea what lied ahead for me when I went on that trip. And despite all the fear and anxiety, it turned out to be an amazing experience, and I fell in love with solo travel. It was one of the many times I stepped outside of my comfort zone. Scary but so awesome!

Teach, Learn, Share

Life stories are always fascinating! We can also have language and culture exchange (I speak Mandarin Chinese, Cantonese, and English) I can also cook great Chinese food (done that a lot in the past few years trying to stay healthy and fit). I also love photography, filming and making great travel videos! If you’re also into that we’ll have a lot to talk about!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Good vibes and positive energy as a start, I can be your photographer, an adventure companion or simply help around the house, take care of pets (if you have any), or a night out buddy (soda water would be good for me hahaha)
