Living up in the Wilds of the Highlands in Dingwall, about 15 kilometers west of Inverness, with my daughter Izzy (6 years old) who's here most weekends.
The train station is a five minute walk, and is on both the northern line, out of inverness (Wick / Thurso routes), and western (Kyle of Lochalsh / Skye)....there's also local busses connecting similarish routes.
Bring decent beer...and if you pass a field sprouting shrooms...bring them as well...

There seems to be an ever increasing number of surfers who are tourists looking to tick boxes from conventional guide books.
I consider my couch to be a place for travellers to chill, not a free hotel for holiday makers...
