Overview
About Me
Hi, hi there, it’s Rin. I’m Ukrainian🇺🇦 refugee and volunteer. Joined to couchsurfing community to make myself travel more (and communicate more obviously).
Hm, what to write about.. I’m a person that grew up near the sea, so I look for it wherever I go) do graphic design for living, also specialize in illustration. Curious about all existing types of artistic practices, currently learning how to tattoo.
Also really into tea culture, so you'll definitely find some good Chinese tea at my traveling bag.
Due to the war in Ukraine I have reconsidered my values and want to study here in Europe to become an art restorer, and then return back to Ukraine to help restore museums, art pieces, and architectural monuments destroyed by russians. I adore my country and would like to make it the best place in the whole world)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I’m here to experience more while I can.
No need to explain, it’s a task with an asterisk to make friends being alone in foreign country.
I often go on weekend trips on my own (which is awesome), but I often find myself thinking “hm, I really need some advice from locals, it will be nice to hang out and explore how the locals live”.
(for now verification payment is too much for me, but could proof myself any other way like passport)
Interests

Music, Movies, and Books
Let me think, from books- “Dictionary of the Khazars” by Milorad Pavic (some very special postmodern Serbian writer, for me he feels like a mystery), Jorge Luis Borges works (coz someone here is a huge fan of magical realism).
From music: Мертвий півень, Jefferson Airplane, my bloody valentine, Yin Yin, Alt-J, the Smith, Alice In Chains, Joy Division.
Movies? I can show something from Ukrainian festival cinema)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Faced the war, survived and keep volunteering to bring the freedom to my country.
One summer hiking in the Crimean mountains, I found dug up soil where wild boars used to dig to find something , so decided to eat the same roots after the boars. The roots were quite tasty)
Teach, Learn, Share
Hm, I’d be glad to share what I’m good in.
I can do some sketches of you & your pets coz graphic is my way to communicate :)
Also could give a small historical tour of Eastern Europe, something like a cultural exchange, but it will be not the emotionally easiest conversation)
And the best lot of the evening I can take you to Ukraine with me for a few weeks ⭐️
What I Can Share with Hosts
Whatever I can do! My language skills are not that high, but really enjoy spending time talking. Also can help with cleaning and cooking, coz hope to be useful to say thanks.
