Hello,
my name is Maria, and Ri Shirotsuki is for my stage name.
I think I'm pretty much open-minded and creative person, who's in love with any kind of arts, especially with performing arts and dance, theatre, cinema and interdisciplinary arts.
I enjoy learning, creating new projects and participating in them, and I enjoy teaching. I search any kind of opportunities to participate in different projects, workshops, courses and labs.
I teach youngsters and adults in contemporary and experimental dance, also I am familiar with Butoh art and use it in my choreography much. I am working on a few theatrical and performance projects as a performer, director and choreographer. I write scripts and direct some video dance, music videos, documentaries and fiction short films, but I haven't participated in any film festival yet, so this is one of points in my "to-do-list".
I like Asian culture, especially Japanese and South Korean.
I would like to find new projects around the world and participate there and I'd love to travel more. My dream is to visit Japan and South Korea and to live and work there for a while.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am at Couchsurfing because I want to get experience of travelling around the world by myself, meeting new people and making new contacts. Travelling alone and meeting new people is a challenge for me. I'd really be happy to have an opportunity to see our beautiful Earth in as many places as I can visit in my life. I think travelling helps to widen human's mind, and I enjoy expanding borders. It gives me a lot of new inspiration.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favourite music styles are rock, metal, hardcore, metalcore, post-hardcore, experimental music, some classics, mostly for ballet. I enjoy jazz music also.
I love watching films and I do it all the time and all kind of genres depending on my mood.
Here are few directors, which I like: Lars von Trier, Darren Aronofsky, David Fincher, Gene Kelly, Christopher Nolan. Coen brothers, Tarantino.
I like retro films a lot. I also like Netflix series, they are making good products, I think.
And I like asian films and doramas. The Death Note, A Frozen Flower, Oldboy, Rurouni Kenshin, Mulan, Ip Man, Zatoichi and other.
I love reading classical literature and sci-fi.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think the most amazing thing that I am doing all my life is improving my mind-awareness and body-awareness skills.
