About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Enjoy every second of life!

We recently returned from a year long bicycle tour around Europe and Asia. We started in London on May 18th, 2016. We cycled some 9,500km through wind, rain, sun, and fog to Athens, Greece. Then flew to Singapore and cycled up to Hanoi.

ABOUT US

We are an energetic couple who loves trying new things, especially when it comes to being outdoors. We enjoy many different hobbies such as biking, skiing, rafting, rock climbing, and soccer. We also enjoy cooking, eating, trying new breweries and enjoying a good laugh with new and old friends.

PHILOSOPHY

Those who wander are not always lost - J.R.R. Tolkien

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We met so many awesome people on our travels that treated us with such kind hospitality. We really want to return the favor. It also allows you to immerse yourself in the local culture, meet new and exciting people, and see how life is lived in new places.

Interests

Where to begin! We absolutely love exploring new places and trying new things. We are very athletic people and have a lot of recreational hobbies including alpine and back country skiing, snowboarding, rock climbing, hiking, camping, rafting, biking, soccer, yoga, and fishing. After adventuring, there is nothing better than relaxing in a nice hot spring, with a cold beer!

We are also interested in cooking, not professionally, but we absolutely love food, and love trying new flavors and dishes. Being born in Seattle, I have a fond love of salmon, and truly love seafood.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am thoroughly interested in non-fiction books that explore a variety of topics, but most interested in sustainability, the environment, and travel. Some of my favorite reads are as follows:

Sapiens
Enough is Enough
The Sixth Extinction
The Emerald Mile
Man Seeks God
The Geography of Bliss
The Future of the Mind

And every now and then a good fiction book:
Harry Potter
Game of Thrones
The Hobbit
Kite Runner

I am a big fan of music and listening to new and different types of music. When I was younger I became obsessed with the song Gangsters Paradise by Coolio. I can recite almost every word of that song :) Today, I am a very moody music listener here's a sample of my various music tastes:
Avett Brothers
Madisen Ward and the Mama Bear
Nina Simone
Neil Young/Eric Clapton
Parov Stelar
Aloe Blacc
Hit's of the 90s
Outkast
Pink Martini

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

We spent a summer near Songea, Tanzania assessing water availability and potential water sources for villages without a consistent water source. Our group eventually designed and built a sand filtration system, and provided instruction on how to maintain the system.

What I Can Share with Hosts

We can share our experiences from our bike tour and trade some stories. We both love to cook also, so we don't mind making a meal or two!
