About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Explore the great wild open of northern norway in winter

ABOUT ME

I am an open-minded student at the KIT in Karlsruhe, having just graduated in physics. Besides my studies, I love to enjoy my life as much as I can. I am a passionate scout, always trying to leave the world a bit better than I found it. I enjoy sports, music, friends, travelling and getting to know new people.

PHILOSOPHY

Always try to leave the world a little better than you found it.
(coined by Robert Baden-Powell, founder of the World Scout Movement - a wise man he was!)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'd like to give my little share to creating the possibility of cheap travel throughout the world combined with meeting interesting people.

I can show you around the town and also the surroundings. If you'd like to try out Geocaching at night, I'd be happy to take a trip with you.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I had my first couchsurfing experience on a one-month trip all around Northern Norway in winter and it was one of the most amazing experiences of my whole life. I met interesting, funny, friendly and inspriring new people almost every day – no matter what nationality, age or faith.
So far I did not get the chance to host anyone, but I'm sure this will come some time. :)

Interests

Scouting - been into it since I was a child and it's become much more than a mere interest. Scouting and its values influenced a great deal of who I am.

Sports - Currently I'm a club badminton player (desperately trying to get good at it ;)). I did some serious Rock Climbing when I started studying, then had a rather long break but just started out again. I love to go sailing but just don't have the time anymore now. Besides that I really like cycling, even if it's just around town to get to the university or wherever I have to go.

Music - I'm playing acoustic guitar for some years now and really like playing it and sing along. Currently I'm setting out on the electric, but I'm not that far down that track yet.

Hiking and Mountaineering - I just love to be in the mountains and on tracks where you have to set your feet carefully.

Geocaching - especially night caches which lead you off the standard tracks

Music, Movies, and Books

Currently I am really digging the sound of John Mayer. Awesome blues player!
And I think the greatest guitar player at the present time is Tommy Emmanuel. Check him out! :)

Nick Hornby's and Douglas Adams' books. I buy Hornby's books without reading the blurb and have never been disappointed.
Besides that, I read whatever I find interesting at that moment. Really not much of a system in there. ;)

Movies:
Inception, La vita è bella, Leon - the Professional. Fight Club, James Bond movies, 16 Blocks, Blood Diamond, The Bourne Trilogy, Butterfly Effect, Das Experiment, Goodbye Lenin, Hard Candy, Into the Wild, Lucky Number Slevin, Rain Main, Matrix, Juno, ...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hiking through the Hardangervidda in Southern Norway in 2008. Definitely the most beautiful and diverse landscapes I have seen so far.

Teach, Learn, Share

As a physics graduate, I can help you with math and physics.
I can show you bits and pieces of playing the guitar. especially concerning rhythm guitar, but also a bit on the electric.

I'd really love to do some voice formation to improve my singing.
