Overview
About Me
I'm a musician and a composer. I play a weird instrument (sousaphone and tuba). This instrument has opened doors to many amazing people and places and cultures around the world. I've embraced it all with a spirit of adventure. Through my travels I learned to be a respectful traveller and curious student of all cultures.
My current goal is to score films since it pulls together all the skills I've developed as a musician. I've worked on some beautiful independent documentaries that tell important stories and I'm hoping to do more. I'm extremely hard-working and passionate about my career. I may be working on something with my laptop and headphones while I'm visiting you. (likely not travelling with the tuba though!)
I view my work as a sacred calling. Art is fuel for the ancient fire that burns at the soul of humanity and every day in the service of my art is another log for the fire. My musical practice and my life are one and the same.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've met many couchsurfers and they tend be truly lovely people who are open to the world. I have friends around the world and I want to have more. And I really can't stand staying in expensive hotels. When I travel, I want to see how a place really *lives*, I want to eat the local food and breathe the local air and get to know the local people and sing the local songs. All this gives me a broader understanding of humanity and our world which makes me a better artist.

Skipping this one because I'm sort of all over the map.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Spent six months learning basic Romanian in advance of a tour there with my band, just for fun. But when the tour came, our local tour manager fell ill and couldn't continue on the road with us and the driver he'd hired spoke no English. I had my Romanian dictionary and my wits and spent three weeks communicating with this driver as we careened through Eastern Europe, keeping us on time for all our shows and making sure he knew where to pick us up in the morning. Somehow it worked!
Teach, Learn, Share
love to do all three
What I Can Share with Hosts
If you have a piano, guitar, drum, pots and pans etc. then I'll make music with you. If you're learning any instrument I can offer you some tips that will change the way you think about it. Take me to a cultural event and I'll bring an open mind to share the experience with you. Introduce me to your friends and we'll share our perspectives about the world. If you want to talk about your life, I'm a patient listener, not judgmental, I'm great at setting goals and I can help you fix your resume / website / etc. and make a plan for your next moves.
