ABOUT ME

I am.... Me?!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think it's a great way to meet new people and experience new cultures while you are traveling.

Interests

1. Languages

"If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart. - Nelson Mandela"

For me, there are plenty of things I fascinated about languages.
For starters, I adore the feeling of being able to communicate as well as interacting with people from another countries like we are doing right now ^o^
If I were a monoglot, you would not be able to read my profile on here right now ;p right? :D
Secondly, learning new culture is fun for me.
Each language is ,in many ways, an expression of how one society or culture thinks.
I started learning English and Japanese in my second year of high school and it gave me a solid opportunity for more connections and opened myself up to foreign cultures and ideas.
I spend most of my waking hours learning languages which takes me a lot of time and efforts but while taking one step after another,
I realize I have been enlightened by being able to see the world through lenses of different cultures with their languages.
That amazing feeling and the desire to go see and explore the world by myself gave me the courage to get out of my comfort zone, push myself out to the world and enjoy the absolute freedom in 3 different countries that I have NEVER EVER dare to imagined that I could follow through on as a person who used to be a big worrywart, fairly introverted, highly self-conscious.
and my family was very poor growing up and so my idea of the opportunities that set before me seemed so small and now that I am older and much more traveled and have kinda expanded everything and realized how big the world really is and there is no limit of anything. and it's all because of my passion towards languages.
it changed piece of me
Now I am trying to learn Spanish so if there's anyone who knows any good website or podcast to learn Spanish please do let me know :)

Music, Movies, and Books

* Movie : Kiki's delivery service.
Finding myself at 26-year-old relating very heavily to a 13-year-old animated witch with a talking cat was slightly more unexpected for me.
Mild spoilers: in the film, Kiki, who loves to fly on her broom, leaves home and sets up a delivery service, and so the thing that she loves, flying, becomes her job.
As a result of this, Kiki then finds herself losing her ability to fly and it's only through an effort to try and get her powers back that she realizes she has to find a new purpose in order to be able to fly again.
Basically, the film is a perfect analogy for what it's like to lose your passion for something that you used to love.
I am a massive fan of Studio Ghibli's films.
If you haven't heard of them, they are basically the Japanese equivalent of Disney.
And Kiki's always been my favorite film of theirs simply because of that lesson it taught me about creativity, which it taught me at a time when I really needed to hear it and when nobody in real life seemed to be giving me the answer I was looking for.
I had to find it in a movie.
