About Me

CURRENT MISSION

My children have left home and I have a lot of travelling to catch up on. I like to see how people live and what they really eat at home rather than what is served in restaurants and the small changes from one culture to another as well as the things that are the same.

ABOUT ME

I love travelling and am really happy when I am learning new things or sharing things that I know such as cooking or forestry.

PHILOSOPHY

I like to make a positive difference to the world and I think little changes can be just as important as big ones.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have been home exchanging for five years and then helpxing and I like to connect with different people and the exchange of culture and lifestyles that such leaps of trust make possible.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Many people have stayed in my home and I enjoyed meeting them and I stayed in Taiwan recently as my first experience of staying in someone else's home and I loved meeting my host and her family...but also it is good to know there are people there if you are in a strange country.

Interests

Markets, museums and art galleries, literature, wild animals, trees, fungi, cooking, table tennis, photography. Am also interested in anything new so for example while I am not interested in history generally I am interested in social history and how the place I am staying in became as it is.

Music, Movies, and Books

The Master and Margarita, The Magic Mountain, ... movies - good ones of most genres especially international ones, travel books and a lot of natural history (I just finished a MSc in Forestry) and anything amusing such as P.G. Woodhouse. I really love live music whether is is one person playing the guitar or an orchestra.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Planted a forest.

Teach, Learn, Share

I like children and I am interested in nutrition and what people eat. I like to take part in family life and in cultural exchange.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I like to cook and to exchange ways of cooking and I know about mushrooms and trees and gardening. I grow vegetables and am happy to help with gardening. I make kombucha and forage for interesting additions to my diet.
