CURRENT MISSION

My wife and I are planning on spending Christmas of 2014 in Marco Island Florida with our middle daughter, hier husband and new baby boy!! We intend to drive and couch surf to save money.

ABOUT ME

This couch surfing adventure includes us as a couple! We are high school sweethearts - been married for 41 years. We were both born & raised in Marinette WI , became Michiganders by moving to Menominee County in 1975.We have lived in our present home for 31 years! During this time managed to raise 4 beautiful (in all ways) children - 3 girls and a boy! We are now grandparents and love spending time with these 3 little ones! Number 4 is due in February.

PHILOSOPHY

The golden rule is important to us as a family and as stewards of the Earth. We strive to respect and value people from all walks of life. At the same time we enjoy life and all the pleasures it has to offer.
"He who is flexible will not be bent out of shape." "Be a kid as long as you can!" Theses are a few of our favorite sayings.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We are a retired couple that enjoy a variety of activities. Together we love to walk, read, garden, and eat good food.
Ross enjoys photography, framing and exploring new places.
Holly likes to play Mah Jong and is part of a book club and writer's group.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We are new at couch surfing. Our brother and sister-in-law are couch surfers who live in Portland, OR. We first learned about it through them.

Interests

Reading, photography, travel, exploring. We are on a mission to visit all the National Parks!
We love trying new recipes and strive to eat locally grown foods whenever possible.
We enjoy a variety of movies and have really enjoyed the Traverse City Film Festival.

Music, Movies, and Books

Variety is the key here. We enjoy documentaries and Independent films as well as some of the mainstream movies. Some of the oldies such as The Beatles, Chicago, and John Denver. We also enjoy Jack Johnson and the Avette Brothers and love some of the old Jazz tunes as well. Ross enjoys novels by Nevada Barr and Carl Hyacinth. Holly likes Maeve Binchy, Anne Tyler and Barbara Kingsolver.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Holly: I have been to Egypt and experienced the pyramids, the Red Sea and Mt. Sinai. It was an amazing adventure. It was a blessing to share this time with my son.
Ross: I delivered a tug boat from Marinette, WI through the Great Lakes, St. Lawrence Seaway, down the East coast and through the Panama Canal to San Francisco. It was a 30 day trip of a lifetime!

We've been organic gardeners for over 40 years and have chosen a simple life. These are skills and interests we'd be happy to share.
We never stop learning from others and are open to trying new things and learning about others.
Raising our four children has taught us patience and tolerance. We never stop learning from them and now our grandchildren show us their insights!
