About Me

CURRENT MISSION

survive sustainably in a land of diminishing returns

ABOUT ME

Friendly, quiet, good sense of humour, a bit shy, can sit still for long periods of time if necessary, usually follow a vegan diet though will indulge in more primitive eating habits during special occassions or to avoid starvation.

PHILOSOPHY

hope to figure this one out before I die.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I haven't had much chance to travel recently, but I hope that changes.
We can host people who don't mind dogs and cats, though as Milton Jones would say "Your house stinks!"

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've had only a few experiences, but all of them were great.

Interests

I am interested in alternative building projects using natural materials. I teach English to all ages, so I enjoy exploring and introducing people to the related culture. I also like walking, a bit of cycling, reading, swimming and most sports though I'm getting a bit too old for that sort of thing.

Music, Movies, and Books

Coen brothers, Jarmusch and films which are at least funny in parts

Tom Waits, Sufian Stevens, Steve Poltz, Tiger Lilies, Elvis (Costello and Presley), most stuff really

Jonathan Franzen, Lionel Shriver are favourite authors and other books I really liked are The Life of Pi, Oryx and Crake and the Millenium trilogy by Larsson.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

the sights, sounds and smells of India (especially the hills south of Mysore)
ice fishing on Lake Erie in a little hut when it was -30 degrees

Teach, Learn, Share

I teach for a living, though I don't think I'm great at it.
I learn and forget equally well.
I share because it makes me feel good and I am selfish that way.

What I Can Share with Hosts

l can cook well, do a few sums, or help you with your English.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Bolivia, Brazil, France, Germany, India, Spain, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States, Uruguay
