Overview
About Me
My name is Ryan. I grew up in the Pacific Northwest, spent a few years living in Hawai'i and now I live in country with the best wine and the worst internet, Italy. I've been hosting on here for a few years, and over time I started to get the opportunities to travel myself as well, and I've really enjoyed getting out there and experiencing other cultures. Especially through food.
This profile is a little bit out of date and I'll rewrite the whole thing eventually, but that just about covers it for now.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I started out on here as a marooned international-traveler-at-heart, but I've finally gotten to the point where I'm being able to see more and more of the world, and I love it. I love hosting and meeting people from different cultures, and although I haven't gotten the chance to use Couchsurfing to travel yet, I definitely intend to and I'm very excited for that as well.
Interests
I pretty much will do anything at least once, but my main hobbies are hiking, ultimate frisbee, video games, moshing, volleyball, languages, kayaking, reading, weightlifting, and football, both the American kind and the other kind

Music, Movies, and Books
I love punk rock and indie. The Wonder Years, A Day to Remember, Say Anything, and Vampire Weekend are some of my favorite bands. I'm more into netflix than actual movies, but I love Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, Arrested Development, House of Cards, It's Always Sunny, and a bunch of other stuff. I firmly believe that we're living in a golden age of TV. I prefer older books, especially late 19th-century American literature. Give me Twain, Melville, and Thoreau and I can read for days. I also have a massive man-crush on Jules Verne.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Skydiving off the North Shore of Oahu. Seeing the whole island at terminal velocity flying right at your face puts it in a whole new light.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you how to play ultimate frisbee, how to draw stick figures, how to make an awesome dinner with whatever you can find in your cupboards, how to suck at Call of Duty, how to play cribbage, how to scream like a metal singer, and how to drive like a grandma. I also make a mean brunch.
What I Can Share with Hosts
My couch obviously, but I can also share my home, my conversation, my free time (if I have any), my cooking, and whatever else I can think of to make you comfortable. I like to take people on adventures.
In return, I'd like for guests to just share themselves with me: tell me about yourselves, your passions, hopes, and dreams, and teach me something new.
