About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Showing animals and birds Yala and Bundala National park, camping and nature tours

ABOUT ME

I am Janaka, and I am a guide in Yala National Park. With my jeep tours I show People Yala nationap park and Bundala Nationa park and nature. Also I arrange jungle campings and I can show the beauties of Sri Lanka in general. Furthermore, I like to interact with people all around the world. This is why I offer one room in my house for free. I offer the possibility to stay in my village, deep in the green forest, next to the jungle, and in a beautiful area, where you can see how I live and where we can exchange thoughts, ideas and philosophies. You can see the 'real' Sri Lanka, and see how people live in the countryside. In my opinion this is a better way to see Sri Lanka then when you go on a standard tourist packet where you only see hotels, taxi's and some highlights but you will never see the way the locals live.

Last, to be fully open and honest, I have a simple house, with a computer and I don't know too much about making profiles etc., and my writing off English is not flawless, I hope it will bring me some positive experiences!

PHILOSOPHY

I am a Buddhist. I believe in nature, and the forces of nature. With this is believe in karma, and so in doing good. Further: don't hurry with anything. Things will come your way if you are patient.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've had Belgium familes and who stayed with me a many years. They liked it so much at my house and in the area of Tissamaharama that they got stuck here : ) We had a great time, there was a great connection. I showed them my life, and they told me about theirs. Hopefully one day I can visit one of their countries.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

For me the most amazing animal is the leopard. I am doing jungle safari's for a very long time now, but every time I see a leopard this stays very very special. What a beautiful, gracious animal!
