Overview
About Me
My husband and I are fun-loving, open, welcoming people. He loves to cook, and I love to eat his good cooking. We have 4 adult children -- well kind of 5 -- because one was our foster daughter for a year when she was 14 and is still our daughter now that she is 32. We did foster care for 7 years. I like to get involved in all kinds of activities from sports to community service to concerts, whatever. My husband is from Quito, Ecuador. He obviously speaks Spanish and some Italian and French.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I heard about it and thought it was a great idea to host and for traveling. My husband and I are very open to new experiences and like to welcome people to our home. Years ago, we had a foreign exchange student from Spain stay with us during the summer, and that was a great experience.
Interests
I am tennis crazy. I play badminton every week. I love to do crafts - Pinterest addicted. I especially like to try to make something out of what would normally be considered trash. My husband and I both took martial arts several years ago. If I watch a movie with martial arts, I'm going to look back to watch some moves over & over. We like to entertain - casually -- we have game nights and movie nights at our house. During the summer, we like to go tubing in the local creek at the end of our street. I volunteer with animal rescues and my church and feel that it is very important to give back or pay it forward.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like pop rock and Christian contemporary music. Movies - comedies and then action. The best movie ever - Planes, Trains & Automobiles - the original with John Candy. Best sci-fi -- The Matrix. One of my favorite books from way back - The Giver. I really like the Lee Child books, because I am infatuated with the character, Reacher.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
When I took martial arts, I actually threw Big Will (that's what we called him). I couldn't believe it, because he was about 320 lbs, and he did not jump for me. It was a pretty proud moment.
Teach, Learn, Share
My husband can teach cooking and languages. I think we can both teach how to be open and how to be thankful!
What I Can Share with Hosts
Our sense of humor, welcoming attitude, my husband's good cooking, my dependability, our love of travel & pets.
