About Me

CURRENT MISSION

See the world with my own eyes

ABOUT ME

I like the saying "入乡随俗", which roughly translates to "when in Rome do as the Romans do". That means that I am Italian only when I am in my home country: when I have the opportunity to travel, I love to mingle with the locals and to absorb as much as I can from their culture. :)

I am originally from Venice, but I have lived in a few countries already: I studied in Italy and China and then worked as a business analyst in Italy, Turkey and Switzerland. I took a few months off in between jobs to travel, explore what I really like doing and to learn how to sail. One of my biggest dreams is to travel the world on a sailing boat!

I really like traveling and I find fascinating the extent to which I can get exposure to other cultures when meeting people from different backgrounds. Besides Italian, my native language, I also speak English and French (fairly well), Mandarin Chinese and Turkish (currently working on the last two!).

PHILOSOPHY

Question everything, never stop growing.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like traveling because learning more about different people, languages and cultures helps me question my point of view. I am on couchsurfing to to share ideas with open minded people and make great memories with new friends.

Music, Movies, and Books

MUSIC:
Depending on my mood, I like to listen to a bit of everything :)
Favorite genres would be the kind of music that help me relax or meditate, so definitely classical music with a bit of jazz every now and then! ...but I enjoy energizing music just as much!
Thanks to a wild roommate I can now say rock'n'roll and metal have become my second favorites.
Electro swing is a recent discovery, but is quickly becoming another favorite

BOOKS:
I can read up to three books at the same time, as long as they are different enough. I like to have 1 book to keep me entertained , 1 book to learn something about a new topic and 1 book to feel inspired and give me new ideas

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

While at university I did an exchange semester in Beijing. Most incoming students would find accomodation within the university but in order to enjoy my stay in China to the fullest, I wanted to be with the Chinese students, and not in the dormitory for the waiguoren (foreigners). They didn't let me.

So what do I do? i do the best next thing: I move to a youth hostel for six months where i share a room with 7 others :D Best decision I have ever made. After a few weeks of mingling with all the people that would come and go, I bonded and was "adopted" by a group of chinese people all around my age.

We all came from different background, and were there for different reasons (some were studying, some were working, some were in Beijing waiting to receive their visa to move abroad..)- but during the time we got to spend together, we were a real family! Eventually everybody went their own way, but we still stay in touch and sometimes we even get to see each other again!

Teach, Learn, Share

I discovered my passion for sailing while taking a few months off work, time that i dedicated to explore what I really like doing and learning more about the world. I love hiking in the nature and sailing - basically exploring the world and learning about different people, languages and cultures.

Another passion of mines is cooking (especially from scratch!) I like experimenting and composing new recipes and I love to share a good meal with family and friends! I would be more than happy to share my passion and knowledge with you too!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can offer a good dinner and some company if you have time to go out and explore together!

If you have time to join me in my explorations you are more than welcome to come! in fact, I would love to find someone who could tell me more about your culture and show me how people live and what do they like to do in your country. :)
