About Me

I am Santi, a young physicist and amateur photographer who is also passionate about politics and nature!

Due to some unfortunate changes on CS I'm not very active here, but you can also find me on Bewelcome (https://bewelcome.org/members/Santilondocas)

I grew up in the southwest of Colombia (near Popayán) where I lived until 2016. Growing up near the countryside sparked my passion for nature and fixing things, the first led me to study physics, and the second has taken me to work on bike kitchens and repair cafes wherever I go 🚲

From a very young age, I got join my parents in work trips through most of south and central America. It was probably during this time I got itchy feet and the desire to keep travelling and moving around.

I can also trace my other two passions to my hometown: activism and photography. I grew up in an area with a strong presence of social movements, mainly dealing with territorial, cultural, and food sovereignty, it was in these movements I first got involved in activism, something I continue to do to this day. It was with a group of journalist friends in Colombia that I got my hands on a camera for the first time, with them I learnt not only about the beauty and aesthetic of photography but also about its power to convey a message and tell a story. Ever since that day, my camera has been my loyal companion anywhere I go.

In 2016 I moved to Finland, where I lived for a year, including a short stay in Greenland. Even though I had a great time there and got to meet some wonderful people, I soon came to realize that my body was simply not meant for Finnish winters and their darkness. So in 2017, I moved to southern Sweden, where I lived for 3 years and where I completed my Bachelor's degree.

In 2020 I decided it was again time to get going and I moved to Germany, where I lived for a year before moving to Spain, where I only spent 6 months working.
After my stay in Madrid I came back to Germany where I just graduated from my physics masters!

I'm looking forward to meeting you, be it for helping you fix your bike, explore a city, go for a hike on the mountains or discuss the state of the world ;)

What I Can Share with Hosts

As I said, I love fixing (or at least attempting to) things! So if you have an old bike, a broken table or a leaking pipe laying around I would be more than happy to give you a hand! (No promises it will be fixed but it's always fun to try)

I have also travelled a lot around south and central America, so if you are planning a trip there (or would like to) I would be happy to share with you my experiences and give you one or two tips!

I also enjoy cooking a lot and would be happy to exchange recipes!
