About Me
**Unable to host as I am currently travelling throughout Europe/ USA**
My name is Santino and I’m 22 years old, from New Zealand!
Last year I was studying at Victoria University of Wellington, doing my Bachelor of Arts in Japanese and my Bachelor of Science in Physics. I love Japan so much! Such a beautiful place, the language, the culture, the food oh my God, the food! Ever since spending a year in Japan for a year exchange at Waseda University, I’ve had the travel-bug and have been itching to get back out so see the World. I left New Zealand in April and spent 3 months travelling in Europe before heading to America for 2 months! Now I and back in Europe to continue my travels for as long I can hold off going back home, because I'm having an amazing time and I don't want to go home yet! It's been the greatest time and can't wait for what else this trip has to offer!
I like to think I’m nice and easy to talk to; I can be funny sometimes and have I also an extensive library of puns, which helps too! I’m very chill and easy-going but also I also love going out for adventures or just experiencing new things or new places. I can speak English, semi-fluent Japanese and currently learning Italian after spending some time in Italy.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I heard about this site from a friend who travelled through Europe and said it was a good way to meet great people and experience each place authentically! Spending time with people in this way creates a way more of a memorable experience that I will be able to treasure forever. It also helps with the tight budget I’m running on as well; being a student has been rough on the wallet.

Music, Movies, and Books
Really basic, but I’ve always loved the Harry Potter series, I’ve lost count of how many times I have read the entire series and The Goblet of Fire is probably one of my favourite movies of all time! My go to is definitely Brooklyn Nine-Nine, never fails to make me laugh. However after just finishing the American version of The Office for the first time, I think that's quite a contender! In terms of music, I listen to everything with an open-mind and if I can feel it, then that’s something I can get into!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Buying a one-way ticket out of New Zealand! At first it was really daunting, making such a big move from a small country, where it felt really comfortable and safe. But I have no regrets about this decision; it’s been incredible so far and I can’t wait to continue with this amazing journey!
What I Can Share with Hosts
If you’ve had any questions you’ve been dying to ask someone from New Zealand, I’d be more than happy to answer them! I can tell you a little bit about the history, the culture and also good spots to go for a holiday while in New Zealand. This also goes for Japan, there’s so much about Japan that I’d love to share. Also I can teach English or Japanese if the Host has an interest in learning some basics too!
