About Me

Heyy!!

I'm studying English Literature at King's College London. I like to keep super busy...acting, dancing, writing poetry and scripts, producing/editing videos when I can. Not gonna lie my profile is a bit long so apologies in advance x

Before starting university, I took 7months out to go travelling. I visited India before moving down into South-East Asia. I've 100% fallen in love with India and couchsurfing - we met some incredibly warm, welcoming and hilarious people/ got into some sticky situations too! (I have many stories to share)

I'm generally up for anything and love to keep busy. But my favourite pass time is definitely having a chill day/ film night at home with friends and a massive takeaway (Preferably sushi... love a cheeky California roll).

Lively, talkative and laid back if a little excitable at times... I have many passions as an aspiring screenwriter/actress/director but travel is an integral part of this for me. Besides exploring new places, I love hearing people's stories and this is a big attraction to me!

A couple of years ago I lived in Bangalore, India teaching English, Maths and Science in a school positioned in the slums. I absolutely adored working with the children, they're so intelligent and a joy to be around. I was also learning Khattak and Urdu - two things that had been on my list for a while. Although I'm half Indian, I really didn't appreciate how much that colours my personality until I moved there. I also spent time backpacking along the west coast moving from Tamil Nadu all the way up to Rajasthan and then flying over to Kolkata. I'm now studying abroad in California and travelling when I can.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm so excited to meet new people and get to know their cities/hometowns in a more personal way. I'm a bit of a chatterbox so I find that there's no better way to gauge the vibe of a city than talking to people and picking up little gems of travel wisdom along the way.

As someone of Moroccan and India origin I'm also fascinated by culture, language and food and how this shapes a person’s sense of identity…. Looking forward to hanging out with likeminded people.

Interests

I’m a major film person, I’m completely infatuated with the great filmmakers of the 1950’s and follow the work of Elia Kazan, Billy Wilder and Alfred Hitchcock to name a few. Natalie Wood and James Dean are without a doubt my favourite actors …. Big follower of Farhan Akhtar too, I mean what doesn't this guy do?! Such an all round film maker.

When I’m at home… cooking (my food always ends up being a bit of a fusion and of course it has to be spicy), singing, acting, going for walks around London with my journal, writing poetry, working on film concepts, visiting the National Theatre/ The Young Vic/ The British Museum/ Tate Modern/ Borough Market (or any and every market)/ Prince Charles Cinema/ picnics in the park

When I’m abroad… I’m definitely not a beach holiday kind of gal, I much prefer walking around an unknown city with a sketchbook and disposable camera in hand and more often than not I stumble upon something fascinating that I wouldn’t have otherwise found. I can’t claim to be even slightly athletic but I love a good trek if I get the chance.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hiking to the highest vantage point in the Amazon basin, Ecuador. It sounds so cliché but I never really got the phrase 'breathtaking' before that... Seriously surreal, lush, memorable in every way.

Gotta mention climbing Sevandurga (the largest monolith rock in Asia) in converse without a proper torch... I thought we were going to Nandi hills for a calm temple visit.... How wrong I was! So glad I did it, so glad I didn't fall off too.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can cook and share my love of food, have a mini film collection to hand when travelling, up for a nature retreat/ hiking/ anything animal-forest related, jam to whatever music your into and bring my ipod along too! I'm really into clothes, cutting up old things and sewing them into something new. Big theatre goer, always up for a debate, be it about literature, music, politics or whatever else... Fascinated by languages and find myself imitating any accent I hear, equally up for learning from you.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I find myself stumbling into a lot of odd situations so I have bundles of funny stories to share. I'm 100% a talker but love hearing other people's views and experiences too. I'm a bit messy but I really respect someone opening up their home to me and I try my best to keep myself tidy.

I'm a pretty flexible traveller so if you're a hands on host I'd love to go out with you - and if not I can find my way around, and enjoy your company when it's available.
