About Me

One day, as I was cycling as usual from my workplace, the broken record of my daily commute suddenly brought me to tears.
I stopped, sat on a bench and bawled my eyes out for a few minutes.
When I got home I took pen and paper and wrote down things that make my life worth it: "travelling" and "my mom" made the top of the list.
Forward a few months and here I am, travelling around the world (literally) with my mom.
My mom is the most amazing person I swear. She was pregnant with me and she was climbing cliffs, swimming with sharks and menacing robbers with a harpoon. She's got many stories to tell, plus for the foodies) she works as a cook!

We started our journey in Colombia and made our way up through Central America, crossing land borders, avoiding the most touristy spots and trying (yet often failing) not to rely too much on Sir Google Maps. As a rule we are keeping it as adventurous as possible!
We often bicker as we are quite different, but we can both agree that the best part of this journey has been the people we've met. Life will teach all of us many a precious lessons and it's a great privilege to meet someone new and learn from their story.

This is the main reason we decided to join Couchsurfing. That feeling of sharing a precious moment of connection with someone who comes from a totally different background. The knowledge and warmth you give and receive from such interactions is just priceless.
We cannot wait to see where our trip will take us and who we will cross our path with next!

Wherever you are may you live a day full of little wonders.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Even before sharing this amazing experience with my mom, I have been lucky enough to have traveled around for a series of different circumstances. Looking back at all those moments I recall both pleasant and unpleasant memories (as it should be for any adventure), but what I absolutely treasure the most is the gift of perspective I received from all the people I met along the way.
I believe social interaction is one if not the main means to achieve personal growth.
That said, if you only share opinions and feelings with people who have lived the same life you have your world will be made of only those same thoughts and you will miss out on so much insight and human connections.

I think Couchsurfing is a wonderful opportunity to enrich oneself and I really hope I can give back as much as I received from people until now.

Interests

I am a very curious person, I love change and trying new things out. At this moment of my growth, the worst thing I can envision for my future is a life void of surprises.
As a result from this mentality I have collected way too many interests and hobbies although I'm not extremely skilled at anything in particular (except languages maybe).

I have a real soft spots for animals, I often feel more for them than for humans.

I'm a foodie and will eat anything, and I enjoy cooking for other people.

I love anything artistic, from literature to movies to music.

The moment I feel more at ease with myself and the world is when I am outdoors, in close contact with nature. It's the only place that really feels like home.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I can play some piano and I love classical music, although what I listen to depends largely on my mood. I can appreciate any genre except heavy metal (I'm sorry metal lovers) I know the instrumental part can be amazing but the singer screaming always gives me a headache.

Books: I have loved reading since I was little, probably for the same reason I love traveling. Fantasy (and Sci-fi) is undoubtedly my favorite genre, but I enjoy reading anything, from fiction to non fiction. At the moment I am into finance, psychology and science books (nothing too difficult).

Movies and TV: I am currently going through a KDrama phase (with my mom).
I love a good psychological thriller that throws in some social issues. I also like good documentaries. Show me anything Disney and I'll be a happy puddle of tears by the end of the movie.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Living in China for one year when I was 16

Teach, Learn, Share

I could help with teaching you any of the languages I know, maybe some piano if you are interested. My mom works as a cook (I act as her humble assistant) and if you would like to learn a new recipe she's always enthusiastic to teach you (or just feed you).

What I Can Share with Hosts

I will gladly cook you REAL italian pasta 🍝, help you learn a language I know and try my best to satisfy your curiosity about anywhere I have been or anything I have done :).
