About Me

UPDATE: I have moved to Upland, CA to attend school and am no longer in Kingman. Unfortunately my living situation right now is not conducive to couch surfing. :( but please email me with any questions about traveling through Kingman or if you are in the LA area and need tips or would like someone to hang out with!

CURRENT MISSION

Learn how to love better.

ABOUT ME

Hi! I'm Sarah. I graduated from Azusa Pacific University in May of 2012 and now I'm living with my family in Kingman, AZ. My family is super important to me, and we're all pretty close. We're a laid-back, informal, open-minded, and loving family.

I'm a pretty easy going, flexible person. I like having new experiences and I'm basically up to try anything at least once, but I'm also perfectly happy doing simple things like going on walks, curling up with a book, and watching movies. I'm a Christian and a feminist and these two worldviews influence much of how I see the world. However, I don't like pushing my beliefs on others and I appreciate it when others don't force their views on me, either; but I am ALWAYS down to have a respectful discussion about my views and how they shape me and inspire me. :)

I think hospitality is one of the simplest yet most profound practices of love there is, and I've made a decision to dedicate my life to being hospitable in my personal and professional life. While I understand the complexity and depth of the evil in this world, I also believe that simple and honest love is the most powerful thing in the world, and that if more people knew how to love, the world would be a much better place. And I think Couchsurfing is a great place to do just that!

PHILOSOPHY

Love.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I surfed a few times in Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, and India with my best friend Kim. She and I did a 7 month trip through Asia, and this used to be our joint profile, so a lot of the references on my page are for her too.
Our hosts made our trip a thousand times more special, and I want to give what they gave me to other surfers! I'm still new to hosting but I'm so excited to give travelers a taste of home and family when they're far away from their own homes.

Interests

I'm interested in issues of social justice and understanding the experiences of people from different backgrounds, social locations, and cultures. I like coffee, dessert, and long conversations, all of which are better together! I love to write and want to make my living off of it someday. I also want to own my own business and use it to support my friends working in non-profits in Nepal, which I consider one of my homes.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love reading! I like classic authors like Charles Dickens and Charlotte Bronte, and nonfiction writers like David Sedaris and Anne Lamott (she's my favorite). I also like reading sociology, history, fantasy (Harry Potter, what's up!), and theology. I also love movies, anything from dumb comedy like Anchorman to deep stuff like The Tree of Life. and music, yes. most music. yes.
