About Me

I'm a student fresh out of the physics oven, and I am traveling to expand my understanding of the world around me and the people who live in it. I'm from Ukraine and I live in America, and seeing two very different mindsets and cultures at a very early age blew my understanding of people wide open. It's dangerous to ourselves and our societies to live in one place, know one people, and think one type of thoughts. We must cross-pollinate our minds with ideas from as many different sources as possible to become humble, kind, caring people who realize that we're all the same; we all want happiness, love, comfort, and a warm meal.

I'm open minded and I love to listen to others' philosophies, opinions, and stories. Maybe you've thought something that I haven't thought yet.

On my travels right now, I am concerned especially with how people from different cultures solve problems, both technical and non-technical. The simplest example is that if something breaks, the average person just goes to the market and buys a new thing. I'd love to meet people who figure out how to fix, build, and restore things. I'm looking to develop that sort of ingenuity in myself.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've never really traveled without practicing some form of couch surfing (or wild camping). I'm not at that point in my life when a fancy hotel with five star comfort is my preferred stay :)

I am really humbled that a host would selflessly open their house and take me in, and I cannot tell you enough how much I value the genuine, warm, and sincere conversations and experiences which I share when I surf couches with people from abroad.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like to listen to American folk music, electronica, and classic rock, though I will listen to any and all quality music in other genres.
I like to films which expose the human condition and make me think about myself.
My favorite books are Godel, Escher, and Bach, and the Alchemist.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I can't speak to activities I've done, I don't want to boast. But I've been a good, supportive friend to my friends who've needed one.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach me about your engineering and problem solving!
I can fix your bike, try my hand at repair jobs around the house, and help you in your writing.
We can meditate together.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Cultural and ideological exchange, a few Ukrainian recipes, and an unorthodox musical instrument that you can play along with too!

Countries I’ve Visited
