ABOUT ME

I'm a super laid back radio nerd. I love books, good music (though I guess that's pretty subjective), riding my bike, learning new things. I worked as a radio journalist at a non-profit in Oakland for 5 years. I focused mostly on issues around the juvenile justice system and youth employment, though I also covered interesting art projects and scenes too.

I find myself talking to strangers often or walking around at night, just seeing what's happening.

I'm really hoping to use this site to meet some bold, interesting folks doing bold, interesting things. I want to meet story-tellers, teachers, artists, and adventurers.

Soy muy tranquilo y amable. A mi me gusta radio (hacer y escuchar), libros, música buena, manejar mi bicicleta, y aprender de nuevas cosas. Trabajaba en un organización de periodismo en Oakland, California por 5 años. Escribí sobre la sistema justicia de juveniles pero también arte y otras cosas.

Me gustaria encontrar a personas diferentes y caminar sin un destinación.

Estoy aqui porque quiero aprender mas sobre el mundo, culturas diferentes y idiomas. Quiero compartir con otros y tener experiencias nuevas.

PHILOSOPHY

I'm an incredibly optimistic, direct, and open person. I like my folks to be the same.

Lately I've been trying to take advantage of every opportunity that comes my way, which is why I'm starting to travel a lot more. I don't see the point of waiting until I'm older to live my life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm looking to surf for the most part. I live in New York City now and my roommates and I like the idea of having people stay with us. For now it's just a matter of timing and space (we are all students!)

Solo estoy buscando a surf ahora. Vivo en Nueva York y comparto un departmento con amigo. Nos gustaria tener huéspedes en casa pero nececitamos encontrar tiempo y espacio (somos estudiantes!)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My last experiences were in the US and they were pretty incredible. I'm really blown away by the kindness of total strangers. I also couchsurfed in Ecuador and met really great folks.

Mis experiencias en los Estados Unidos fueron increible. Siempre me soprenda la genorasidad de person. Tambien lo he hecho en Ecuador y econtre personas muy amables alli.

Interests

I love poetry, writing it and reading it. Like I said, I'm a bit of a radio nerd so I love Radiolab, State of the Re:Union, This American Life, 99% Invisible, Radio Ambulante. I'm always trying to discover new podcasts and interesting sound projects so if you know of any, slide your suggestions my way.

I love hip hop (Again, suggestions, slide em' my way), reggae, rock, and really everything in between. Love me some Nina Simone, Shabazz Palaces, Immortal Technique, De La Soul, Sly and the Family Stone.

Me gusta poesía--escribir y leer. Tambien me gusta la radio y programas diferentes. Siempre estoy buscando para nuevas programas.

My top movies have to be Harold and Maude, Life in a Day, Examined Life. Some other mentionables: Natural Born Killers, Freaks, The Big Lubowski, Memento.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I lived in Ecuador for a year in Riobamba, working with a community radio station and living with a family there. I met some really amazing people and I am different person because of it.

I can show you your way around a microphone, introduce you to some cool poets, I can drum on my throat and I'm a decent whistler.
