ABOUT ME

Hello my dear earth-dwellers!

It's me, a guy nicknamed Sewi who grew up in a small town called Schladming, situated in the centre of the european alps. Privileged and grateful to have grown up at the foot of amazing snowy mountains and beautiful nature in general, I love to be outdoors. At the moment I am based in the capital of Austria - Vienna studying geography and the english language.

Basically I'd describe myself as an open-minded and interested person. I have always been eager to broaden my horizon and explore different ways of living in different places on the planet.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It´s a pretty straight forward reason actually - in my opinion, experiencing and discovering the world, the diverse people and cultures which are inhabiting it happens through humans you meet and friendships you make.
The idea of hosting and being hosted by complete strangers, when the only things which connect each other are CS and the pleasure of sharing, is a beautiful one.

CS represents the truly most beautiful and important thing on earth - Sharing
I believe and trust in a world of generosity - that's why I am on Couchsurfing

Music, Movies, and Books

When it comes to stuff I am interested in, I first of all have to list music.
Fascinated by music in general I always strive for discovering new harmonies and rhythms. My taste of music ranges from classic pop music of all eras - from Beatles (!) over Michael Jackson, even some present pop artists - to the dark sounds metal (Korn, Slipknot, System of a Down but especially progressive metal like Animals as Leaders, Gojira or Meshuggah). Basically I grew up on listening to the big ones with my dad - Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, ..
Moreover and not to make it too long, here are some of my present favourite artists sorted by genre:
Jazz - Tigran Hamasyan, Mark Guliana, Alfa Mist, Jacob Collier, Snarky Puppy
Hip Hop - Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, Nas, Mos Def
Funk & Soul - James Brown (!), Vulfpeck, Marvin Gaye, Bill Withers, The Meters
Electronic Music - Netsky, Halogenix, Camo & Krooked, Extrawelt, Max Graef

My fascination for rhythmics led me to learn drums when I was about 15 years old. Now I play in two bands (Sara Brandy & The Jims, Fritsch & The Jims). Through these two projects we celebrate groove, funk and soul music.
So, if you share the pleasure of making and listening to music, we possibly could have a jam session someday :)

Favourite movies have to be something like The Godfather 1-3, Requiem for a Dream, Spirited Away and Ghost in Shell. It's not a Movie but I really enjoyed the Breaking Bad series.

To pick a favourite book is a difficult one for me. To be quite frank with you my favourite books are actually travel journals. Favourite one yet is Left, beyond the Horizon by Christopher Many.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Playing music in a band with my best friends.

Another thing I am happy to have learned - While back bag traveling I first started to understand and comprehend that the world is truly a very friendly and generous place in contrary to all the bad and negative stuff reported on media and prejudices feed by it!
