About Me

Hello, world! I am a sassy painter who loves to travel and learn and try new things. I love any and all things creative. I love to see art, see performances, music and learn about a place's history. I adore partner dancing, my favorites being salsa, bachata and jitterbug/lindy hop. I also sing and play guitar/piano. I am a vegetarian cook. I love tattoos. Aaaaaaaaand I can juggle.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As an artist, I am constantly looking to meet new people, hear new stories and narratives, and see new things to influence my practice. Being able to link up with locals while I travel is essential to beginning to understand new places, make authentic connections and fall in love with humanity. Plus money saving is an added perk.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have a pretty random taste in music because interests expand across various types of dance and musical genres.

I love kinda grungy indie/pop/rock
Tegan and Sara
The Arctic Monkeys
The Kooks
Cake
The Killers
The Alabama Shakes
The Shins
Etc

Salsa and bachata and reggaton music is badass. The Latin top 40 is killer right now.

More Life by Drake is an epic album (Drake is on fire, and has always been on point). Childish Gambino's Redbone album is amazing.

Rhythmic indie music like Chet Faker or Ibeyi or Marian Hill is really great.

A lot of oldies music. Prince is essential. Funk music, 80s dance music, certain classic rock stuff.

Typically I like upbeat dancy things.

Movies...

Movies are hard, I don't see many of them.

Get Out was rad. The Witch was sick. Zoolander is a classic. CATS the musical is basically my childhood. The Royal Tenenbaums rocks.

Books...
Vitamin P and Vitamin D = some of the best contemporary art surveys. Love those.
Just Kids by Patti Smith
The Vagina Monologues by Eve Ensler. Really anything by her.
Anything by Jonathan Lasker

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once rappelled down a waterfall. That was really intense and not terribly characteristic. I am more of a city gal but it was an adventure, so I was all for it.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach pretty basic swing, salsa and bachata. I can advise/teach/critique artists and their work. I am also really skilled in English so I can assist with writing and comprehension and conversational skills. I can assist in vegan/vegetarian cooking/food prep/nutritional planning. I can teach basic guitar and vocal lessons.

I love learning, so I would love to learning anything that a host would like to share with me, though I would really love to learn/practice languages.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am happy to share any of my knowledge/skill sets with hosts. I am really enthusiastic about all of my creative practices and about sharing those with others. I am also very willing to help with cooking or a few household chores for a host.
