About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Break out of the common mold, see-do-experience life and people; object:: sharing what I know and learning from others
ABOUT ME
After 25 years of piano teaching and working as a computer consultant to piano teachers, I took a sabbatical and went to truck-driving school. Learned to drive an 18-wheeler and for 2 years traveled the highways and byways of the USA. Came off the road and decided to get a private pilot license. Currently have single-engine, land, pilot's license (Cessna 152). Went back to music teaching while going to school for a massage therapy license. Went one step farther and got a license to be an instructor of massage therapy.
Retired from music teaching and massage in 2009 and set out to backpack around Europe and Asia as much as I could cover in 2 years. Now I am approaching the end of my THIRD year of travel(and am deciding whether or not to start a fourth!).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Daughter had been couch surfing for 2 years in Europe and encouraged me to join her. When I did join her
I was immediately 'hooked' into this traveling lifestyle. A month later, when she returned to America, I continued on my own. 12 countries later, I have been a single traveler for 3 years now and will soon be returning home to host other CSers to share my travel stories and show them my little slice of Texas.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
As a CouchSurfer [along with HelpExchange, house sitting, and WWOOFing] these past 3 years I have been:
an English teacher for Tibetan monks in the Himalayas, a nanny in the Netherlands, a kitchen helper in Belgium, a sign painter in France, a receptionist, a dog-walker...and a myriad other positions. I've CouchSurfed in and between countries, learning about people, customs, interesting information and facts from wonderful welcoming hosts that I could never have known any other way. Sharing information, facts and philosophies about my own country with them as well.
Interests
curious about everything! Love to learn. Art and music high on the list. Books: biographies, How-To manuals, theological, metaphysical, inspirational, etc. Also love dogs, cats, all animals!
