I am currently studying marine biology at Louisiana State University.
I absolutely LOVE traveling and camping, especially near the ocean.
I enjoy painting/sketching, and often will host art nights at my house for fellow crafters and artists.
I am also a professional hula hooper (including fire), and have many friends who are extremely talented in many of the flow arts!
I am VERY passionate about animals. My 5yr old dog, Leo, holds my heart and is considered to be my baby, to say the least. I also have a 6ft red tailed boa, Salazar, who is a sweetheart and nonaggressive.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I absolutely love meeting interesting, new people, and helping out travelers whenever and however I can is a wonderful feeling to have.
I've met some amazing people through hosting before, and have made some unbreakable friendships as well.

Music, Movies, and Books

HARRY POTTER, all the way!! I grew up with the series (probably have read them all at least 5 times through) and my great-grandfather's name was also Harry Potter :] I even have a Harry Potter tattoo, haha.
Another favorite book series of mine is the Dark Tower series by Stephen King, since it's absolutely epic.
I also really enjoyed the book/movie of Life of Pi, which was beautiful.

My favorite bands include Tool, A Perfect Circle, Radiohead, Bjork, Nine Inch Nails, Tori Amos, Alt-J, Beirut, TV on the Radio, Bon Iver, Bassnectar, Led Zeppelin, Easy Star All Stars, Dub FX, Bob Marley, Sublime, Pink Floyd, Gorillaz, Primus, Soundgarden, System of a Down, etc etc..
My music list goes on forever since it is on of my therapies, next to art and hooping.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent two months in South Africa researching great white sharks, along with several other species, through an internship.
And yes, I did swim with them ;]

Teach, Learn, Share

I love introducing people to flow arts, and do so through a group that my roommate and I run here called the Baton Rouge Fire Guild. We meet up every Wednesday and Friday night on the levee downtown to flow together, practice, learn new tricks, and play with fire. It's a great environment to be in, with a lot of positive energy and good vibes from the amazing people that make up our Guild.
So if you stay with me, you'll have these beautiful tools at your fingertips if you feel the flow calling you!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Well I've got some pretty decent cooking skills, and I love to cook for friends and guests :]
I would love to show anyone around the Baton Rouge/New Orleans area, for it is seriously a one of a kind place to be.
I am more than happy to introduce people to the flow arts, or help them expand on them! It is very therapeutic.
I would also be more than willing to host an art night during a part of your stay, if you would like!
