Overview
About Me
Hi, I'm Sharon, I'm married to David and we have three grown children. We live in a small college town in Iowa, USA. I do marketing and graphic design part-time at our public library, and in the evenings I teach ESL classes. We've hosted Rotary Club exchange students, and our daughter went on a Rotary exchange to Korea as well. We are also a host family to international students who come to our town for college. Iowa is a beautiful and peaceful place, and I would love to meet you, whether you are staying for a night or for a week.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
My daughters and I are planning a trip to Italy. We aren't as interested in seeing all the tourist attractions as we are in just wandering and exploring, visiting old friends and making new ones. It would be fun to use Couchsurfing to accomplish that!

Music, Movies, and Books
I don't listen to music a lot, but I love to read, mostly mysteries and adventure stories. My favorite books are anything by Alexander McCall Smith, Dick Francis or Anne Perry. My favorite movies include Avatar and Harry Potter.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've taken the leap into a mid-life career change by becoming an ESL teacher and helping immigrants and refugees to Iowa learn English. I'm looking for opportunities to do more of this.
Teach, Learn, Share
Rural Iowa is a peaceful place, but there is still a lot to do. We can spend time cooking and eating, visit nearby parks and historical sites, and visit nearby cities with nightlife and shopping. If you are interested in a language exchange, or just to learn a little English, that would be fantastic.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I would be more than happy to help a host learn some English, if they want, or share recipes and stories from my home.
