About Me

ABOUT ME

Silly, funny, good listener, sometimes a little quiet

PHILOSOPHY

Wake up; eat a good breakfast; enjoy your job; take time to exercise; don't buy anything you can make better at home; if the coffee isn't excellent, don't bother drinking it, don't waste time hanging out with mean people, thrilled by the smallest pleasures and simplest joys

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Newbie to this site. Used to offer travelers a place to rest their weary heads through an organization called Servas.

Interests

Anything and everything. I love meeting people who are like me and completely different from me, as well. I am an excellent listener but like to go to bed around 10-11pm unless there is something worth staying up for. I spend way too much time with my dog so please come and distract me! I play the accordion, love to bake, explore new places to hike, try to meditate daily.

Music, Movies, and Books

Favorite movies: Apu Trilogy, Latcho Drom, Bicycle Thief, Dances with Wolves, Fiddler on the Roof. Love to hear about movies I've never heard of from new friends. Music? Love the stuff from 70's and 80's. From Go-Go's to Missing Persons to Fugazi and again! love to hear about new bands. Really enjoy some of the sounds coming out of South Africa and Morocco. Longest book I ever read? Gone with the Wind. Shortest? The Road. That was intense!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Walked across the US with Global Walk for A Livable World, shaved my head, drove a 40 foot bus for Kent State Campus Bus Service, survived teaching in the public schools of New York City for 14 years, moved to Vietnam by myself, worked in an orphanage school in Dunga/Kenya, taught English to the monks in Dharamsala Amazing site: seeing an old college roommate who now lives in Capetown after many years had passed.

Teach, Learn, Share

French/English language exchange? Head out for a hike together? I'd love some help with little projects around the house...need motivation!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Music, dance, cooking, language exchange, life-stories, fear-free and cooperative care with my dog!

Countries I’ve Visited

Botswana, Canada, India, Kenya, Laos, Morocco, New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Thailand
