About Me

Hello! Namaste! I'm Shivoy. I spent most of my life in India, lived in different cities and moved to Berlin in January 2023 to live a new one (best decision I ever made). I lead the product sales and stategy at a small tech company. I love to travel (ofcourse and have landed up at unexpected places and been surprised), indulge in good food, meeting locals, engaging in outdoor experiences and understanding cultures. I love architecture, cinema (specially old Hollywood), art and try to be around music as much as I can. I am also an 80s lover and sometimes time travel to the decade in the clubs in Berlin. I enjoy a good glass of beer or wine. I do not smoke but do not have a problem with someone smoking around me.

I started travelling later than I would have liked to in my life and yet to start my backpacking journey - so I’m open to all sorts of suggestions and plans. If you are a backpacker who won't mind a newbie, hit me up!

I applied for the MARS ONE program 11 years ago but fortunately and unfortunately- was not shortlisted.

You can reach out to me here on messages or on instagram/linkedin, if you'd like.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As a surfer: I have always been an Air BnB or hostel guy and I stay at boring business hotels mainly because I often travel for work. A few years ago, I remember one of my exes telling me about her couch surfing experience in Istanbul and she described it as the best trip of her life. So, here I am. From Couchsurfing, I would l would like to be a part of someone's 'a day in the life of...' , but on the other hand - I am open to take it slow and maintain privacy also whenever needed and expected. I would not say no to an outdoor activity either (specially cycling!)

A big shout out to my first host Enoch, he set up a great standard for me as a host and an active contributor to the community. I’d totally recommend him if someone is going to Washington D.C.!

As a host: Hosting on CS is like travelling without moving from your home. I am looking forward to meet new people and offer my best to the community. I’m always curious about cuisines and appreciate open minded, relaxed and easy going guests.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love rock n roll, metal, country, blues, bossa nova, latin, jazz and classical music. I always enjoy some good house and trance. Outside of western music, I love listening to Farsi, Turkish and Arabic music and love the languages. I like watching all kinds of films and I am mainly into fiction, academic books and graphic novels.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Somewhere in the hills of North India, I once had a Python wrapped around my neck and torso..just for kicks.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to make Indian food, or play the guitar. I would be open to learn fishing and also for museum trips, a neighbourhood concert, or even a day out in the nature.
